I don't really have a strong fear of heights. Hell I went rock climbing on what was essentially this except much smaller and in kentucky (so much less cool). Of course you are strapped into the mountain cable at all times so there's no REAL danger.
The same mountain cable is used here. If you are a smart hiker you would have yourself strapped into the climbing cable that travels along the path at all times. The only reason why the person filming didn't do this is either because he's a dumbass or a professional climber or something.
Note to self: Don't cross this path unless a horde of zombies is after you.
