Just as you don't talk about Spongebob, and yet have an avatar, so too are there MLP fans who don't talk about it, yet express their like of it in their avatar. The reason you see so many more fanatical MLP fans is because the fandom itself is so large, and relatively new. The more people involved, the more chance some will take it too far. Its silly to think of a tiny image next to your post as anything more than just an image.
