anime is infinitely superior to those stupid western cartoons

Parky
Only anime I ever undoubtably liked was Cowboy Bebop.
It was just badass.
Oh god damn it not this shit again. Both sides are fucking retarded.
Animation is just another medium. I can entirely understand not liking the most common style that the Japanese use, or not liking how the language sounds, or not liking certain trends (like shonen fighting series, such as Naruto, Bleach etc). But discounting an entire country's output is moronic, because for every Naruto or Fruits Basket that gets beaten to death by obnoxious idiots, you have a few years' worth of things like Monster, Macross Frontier, and Umineko no Naku Koro ni that are completely overlooked by the mainstream.
On the same token, worshipping it and claiming that every other medium (or even country) is worthless is retarded for similar reasons and very, very annoying.
(Note: The anime of Umineko is actually really, really bad. However, the visual novel is beyond amazing, and deserves a look if you're into horror; I'm still lumping it in with anime because it's Japanese and has strongly anime-inspired art.)
Ever heard of the pause button?
Also most of those are either just repeating what they said or quoting the light novel.
I wasn't complaining, and I didn't like pausing because it interrupted the flow of things.

Visual novel? You mean a comic?
Visual novel? You mean a comic?
No. A visual novel is a type of "game" that's... well, it's kinda like an interactive e-book. Hotel Dusk: Room 215 is the only traditional one to get a wide release in English, although the Phoenix Wright series has a lot in common with the genre.
A manga would be a comic; honestly, the manga of Umineko is pretty good too, but the fan translation is so bad you have to have played the VN in order to understand anything.
i like how there's such a large shitstorm whenever someone posts about anime
Ah, I just thought it was yet another silly label like graphic novel or, well... manga, because "comic" doesn't sound cool enough.
It's just kiddy shit, no point in trying to say otherwise
I think half of you "anime haters" are really just trying to piss the other guys off.

I'm currently playing it. It's amazing.

Visual novels are basically books with graphics and sound. Some have "choice points" where you can choose your next move, leading into a different ending. Umineko doesn't have these so it's more like a book. If you like horror and mystery, read/play Umineko.
It's just kiddy shit, no point in trying to say otherwise
Umineko is actually unbelievably deep, and borderline-impenetrable if you don't at LEAST have a good footing in debate; logical fallacies and arguments are rather important to the plot. In addition, there's a lot of stuff that requires some skill at literary analysis; for example, [sp]Ronald A. Knox's rules for a proper mystery are actually used as a tool to find the solution to the central mystery[/sp], and other than an offhand comment roughly 200 pages worth of text prior, no hints are given about this.
But that's a visual novel. The Haruhi Suzumiya light novels get ridiculously convoluted (the time travel plot actually somewhat resembles Primer), and if the anime continues to that point it will too. There's also a lot of jokes and references, even in the animated portion, that you won't get without being a mathematician.
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex is absurdly hard to understand unless you read a lot of philosophy; the original manga has actually been used in philosophy courses before, from what I've heard. The movies, however, are dumbed down severely.
Only just finished Endless Eight in the animated show, by "like Primer" do you mean pointlessly unwilling to actually show the action, or a somewhat complicated back and forth time travel plot?
I'm not sure, unlike Primer I think the first answer might be as awesome as the last.
I don't hate it.
Parky
no but thank you for raising my self-esteem
ありがとう。
Sorry, but no. Just avoid really badly rated shows or massively hated shows. Also the newer a show is the more likely it is that it is well animated as the general budget seems to be higher for most companies these days so now they can afford 10-12 FPS animation for a long run instead of 6-8 FPS so to say.
No?
Few frames for the mouth. Can't even be assed to make them look liek they're pronouncing the proper syllables. Just open and close.
Characters stand still most of the time. And if they're not, it's an action being repeated, also with little frames.
Action? No. Just a picture zooming in or out with flashy background.
A fine example of this is One Piece. I really tried to watch that, because everyone kept telling me how "good" it was.

The latter, except replace "somewhat complicated" with "holy shit ow my brain".
Not all anime are like this, of course. There are some exceptions.

^ Ninja.
Weeaboo culture, and almost all animes are the same, the ones that break that generic wall can be considered "tolerable" but very few are actually "good".
The only "Anime" that I can really watch is Miazaki films, mostly because the man is a genius, and all of his films are unique and fresh.
I don't think it is so much about people hating the anime itself as it is people hating the overly obsessive nerds that circle jerk about it.
I don't really have a problem with it myself.
Because people idolize it and don't shut the fuck up about it.
This is common for a lot of things. Xbox 360 for example.
Shut the fuck up. Now.
Also, I prefer live action or original animation. Actual people can do a lot more than a few animators and voice actors. Original Animation, for example... Spatula Madness, is pretty well done in the visuals, the voices are great and the story has some original humor.
I like Anime as much as any other cartoon. There's not any difference between them.
But I don't watch cartoons anyway.

Few framed mouths is common. They don't have the budget to do it otherwise. But there are companies that are getting pretty good at avoiding it, like SHAFT who can often animate the whole jaw whilst talking.
Nyeahhah. Really depends, but yes, they often stand still because there is no reason for them to move. But action being repeated? Can't say I've ever noticed that shit happening.
Oh wow. You really haven't watched anything if that's all you've seen of action.
One Piece is mainstream crap that they can't do for shit. You can't pick out a mass production product that has been going on for years and set it as an example of anime.

Most are like hollywood movies. "Eh, it was, good, but nothing special or anything, could have jsut as well done without watching it."
Ahahahahaahahha. I really just don't understand this. Miazaki makes the same movies over and over in a different setting. Normal childrens movies. The man also has a super strong fetish for slime. Spirited Away was "ughh..." and the end was extremely rushed and super clichè. Ponyo had a pretty cool artstyle, but that was everything it had to it. Princess Mononoke was just another childrens movie just disguised as an teenagers/adults movie because "omg, it has the violence and blood".
I hate anime because all the anime's I've seen look fucking retarded. There may be good ones, but there are too many bad ones.
I hate anime because all the anime's I've seen look fucking retarded. There may be good ones, but there are too many bad ones.
Simply because there is MORE anime than most anything on TV really, I'm not going to count them but just look at this list : http://anime.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_Anime
That's because you're watching shitty dubs.
In the originals it's too like that.
The blabber goes in synch a bit, but it's still blabber.
Admittedly anime tends to be shit. Once you establish a specific voice and way a character moves, it changes everything about them. Things are just better in your head because you imagine them in a way you enjoy it. The only anime I would ever call fucking goddamn amazing is Cowboy Bebop. The rest are just enjoyable, mindless action when it comes down to it (Bleach when you cut the fillers, Black Lagoon, etc.). Its either that, or their original manga counterpart is simply much better.

Seems like most if not all anime have budget problems then.
Again, I'm not saying One Piece is every other anime. I was just giving an example.
