I enjoy it as an art form or in a decent plot, but other than that it's a bit meh. Hatsune Miku is one example of a character that I think is absolutely epic as far as who the character is portrayed as, but I couldn't survive her if they made a show with her in it.

Being both a furry and an anime fan, I have personal experience with both of these situations.
It's the voices that really bother me and one or two of my friends who like anime forced me to watch some and it really bothered me how stereotypical some of it was, the black guy was your typical gruff guy who said "Aww Hell NAW!" when something went wrong.
Then there are the fans who take it WAY too far. One was trying to prove to me how this one character was a great marksmen and told me some story about how they character jumped 20 feet into the air, killed five guys on a moving boat and blew it up by putting one round into the fuel tank and then landed on another moving boat. I had to explain to them how none of that was possible, and that it was only an anime and not real life, thus the character was no great marksmen. They got really angry for no real reason at all.
In general though anime can be okay if they didn't have those high pitched annoying voices which make me want to rip out my eardrums with a hammer.
I did like Elfen Lied Though.

Epic Tier anime. No bullshit, and even ties some ancient history in. Meiji Era Japan, with lots of heavy themes and violence. Fights are well choreo-graphed. You may not like music but it shows off the OVA greatly.
Their are only two anime shows I ever liked. One was "Case Closed" (Detetive Conan in Japan). The other was "Lupin The Thrid". It's sad since only 90 or so episodes have gotten dubbed here for retards like me, but Detective Conan is/was huge in Japan...I just really can't deal with subtitles.
Both used to be on Adult Swim, until one day they just disappeared forever. InuYasha kept on playing though, and from that day forward I've always hated that show.
Death Note is another good anime. TBH, It is over-rated in the sense that the fans go crazy over it, but it's definitely worth watching. It's a bit interesting to see how the main character takes up the role of 'God' and takes it as if it's his own personal responsibility to save the world from evil, even if the way he does it is wrong.
