I don't enjoy the vast majority of anime but the ones I do like, I generally end up finding excellent. Out of the current season, I'm watching Rainbow and Arakawa which are both extremely good. I also watched the new Haruhi movie at the recommendations of many different people and thought it was great, even if the series itself was pretty average for me.
While I enjoy it though, I rarely bring it up because of the shitstorms that ensue and the general stigma against it. It doesn't really bother me if people hate it, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Though I do find myself thinking slightly lesser of people who condemn the entire medium because of the weeaboos and the few shows like Lucky Star. I don't think lesser of them because they hate anime itself, but rather because I believe it's a stupid way to think.

Comments like this slightly irk me, simply because they strike me as stupid. I honestly do not see how you could claim to hate something with absolutely no reason to do so, surely you should just feel indifferent, rather than have feelings of hatred for something that by your own admission, you have no real justification for hating? This applies to everything, not just anime.
Anyhow, I'm out of here before it gets out of hand.

Over-exaggerated facial expressions and the way people idolize it and base their life around it is why people hate it.
I dislike it because anime itself is average or stupid (maybe FLCL is an exception, because of how hilariously fucked up it is). Manga is okay, but only the more complex ones. Things like Naruto and One Piece are worlds where you have the ability to do anything, you just simply need to train for a few pages.

KoNiChIwA DeSU TimOTei in every fucking episode or some cliché jokes used in bollywood films and fucked up body perspectives (eyes, noses, arms, hands etc.) and little girls who do all kind of wacky stuff but it's not a problem because shes actually a vampire thats 900 years old. Unbelievably stupid plot twists, expectable scriptwriting, shitty cliffhangers, dumbass subjects for episodes, you name it. Out of the 200 different animes out there there might be one that's a bit good, though.
oh and the community is ignorant as fuck and keeps looking for the confrontation and then acts like "whats wrong its not my fault!!".

Well, one of the reasons is because not everyone enjoys that art style. I'm more-or-less ok with it, but I don't really watch anime, but I don't hate it either. Manga's ok though, depends on what it's about.
Another reason for people hating anime is because of a big ol' bandwagon of generic mindless hate used to increase e-peen at the cost of ball size.
