You think I haven't? I'm not the guy who hates stuff because other people on the internet hate it. I try to make judgments based on firsthand experience. A lot of my negativity comes from this cycle where someone will try to get me into anime, I'll say what I don't like about it, they'll claim that I haven't seen "the good stuff" and then show me a bunch of stuff that is bad in most or all of the ways I described. Forgive me if I'm a little pessimistic at this point.
This is a common problem with idiots who watch anime. They tend to retort that you haven't seen something good when you say something was bad but they themselves haven't seen something "good" either, so they send you an extra pile of shit.
anime = cartoons cartoons are for little kids
no, for fuck sakes
Anime is cool... NintendoGuy got me back into it a few days ago, just been watching it all weekend xD. Anime isnt for kids, wtflol.
here we go again Does that seem like it is for little kids? also is Family Guy and King of the hill for little kids? Those are cartoons too
Gore and blood does not make it adult in any way. Depth to the story and developed characters are much more important than mindless immature violence.
i find it annoying and i dont like it its as simple as that sue me
Studio Ghibli is as far as I stray into the world on non-real viewing.
Anyone else excited for how One Piece will continue after the great battle? [editline]11:44AM[/editline] Also Kikis Delivery Service was a cute movie. I enjoyed it.
Only Anime i used to watch was this show called eye-sheild 21, weird Post 1000th
One Piece was cool for the first couple of manga volumes, but then i asked my friend (she watches one piece quite a lot) and she said they are up to the 400th episode or something and they are barely half way :geno:
Gore and blood does not make it adult in any way. Huh? I don't see your point. He was trying to say that blood and gore make a show adult when it clearly doesn't. Plus King and Family Guy are pretty much marketed at teenagers not adults.
IRL pictures crossed with anime are the confusing cases of awesome and fail
I have no idea how people can watch anime. It always seems so drawn out and long-winded. Plus all the people i know in real life who watch anime are losers

honestly, I hate anime mostly because most can't even get the lip syncing right.
"each to his own" that's what i say
honestly, I hate anime mostly because most can't even get the lip syncing right.
says the guy with the hentai x furry avatar
says the guy with the hentai x furry avatar
Fucking furfags, man
Whereas if you look at a Japanese game with a dumb story, like Ace Combat (I've played 4 and 5 and it applies to both), it seems like they really WANTED to do a depthful, meaningful story about the moral complexity of war. But they completely lacked the political sophistication and social insight to be able to pull it off. We end up with a bunch of characters standing around awkwardly opining HEY WAR IS BAD before they go off and kill 50 people. So, by contrast, it seems to set the bar far beyond the capabilities of its writers, and then fail spectacularly. It's because Japanese popular culture as it is now is intensely superficial. I don't know why. Maybe it has something to do with being a psychotically imperialist power until 60 years ago and then getting several of their cities ruthlessly demolished. Maybe not. I'm sure there's academic literature that can explain it. All I know is that after WWII (thanks at least in part to us) the Japanese seemed to latch on to the most shallow elements of Western culture and run with it. It seems like most of the anime we see is a product of that.
That's a pretty spot on description of lots of anime right there. Anime is in the core children and teenager shows. Anyone calling them adult shows are idiots, it can appeal to them but is not actually targeted at them. Anime has this thing with them that they just HAVE to be deep and philosophical one way or another, and if they aren't they stop being anything at all but utter random and hilarious or dumb shit, usually with thrown in panty shots and jiggily boobs. Reason is that they want to teach the children and teenagers some valuable life lessons and shit, but they usually fail at it and just repeat the same shit in EVERY FUCKING SHOW. But there are shows which manages to be semi-deep and/or psychological and are good, but generally they try too much. They're heavily influenced by America, that's for sure. The whole stereotypical style of drawing is based on Walt Disneys drawing style. Drop in some nukes and give them a bad economy and you get some weird ass stuff. Not to mention their fondness over cute things, especially cats, which is their #2 most important source of influence on their character expressions and comedical situations. Haha, yeah, that's always a problem isn't it?
The only Anime that I have ever actually liked was the English dubbed Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex series. Compared to that, pretty much every other anime is crap. In my opinion at least.
Eh... But GitS is so boooring. Has it's moments and is overall a show better than most, but... Eh.
I have no idea how people can watch anime. It always seems so drawn out and long-winded. Plus all the people i know in real life who watch anime are losers
What? I find the main problem to be rushed plots. You do know the majority of shows are just 13 to 26 episodes long right? None of that 235343 episodes long shit.
Basically, from ruthless imperialist with "WE DIE FOR THE EMPRAH" attitude to the "we wouldn't hurt even a fly" democracy. Radiation really has amazing long-term effects
I dont really see a reason to hate anime, just like any other form of media you have to wade thru oceans of shit to actually find something you like, seems most people dont wanna make that effort. Though i cant say i havent raged a bit about the fanbase, there was a time when i coulnt walk down a hallway in school without hearing someone go "neeeeekooo-chaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan" or something similar in an extremely highpitched voice :S
I don't hate Anime, I hate the people who revolve their entire life around it.

Of course many of those kind of shows are quite obviously that kind of show already when you look at the preview image when you look up information about it. But there are also more normal looking shows that have the same problems in them.

Not really a complaint Raikauskone, western animation frequently pulls the no-weiner thing too. Even when the girls have boobs. Have you ever seen the animated Robin with a bulge for example?
here we go again Does that seem like it is for little kids?
It certainly doesn't look like anything an adult would be interested in.
You always need to dig in a pile of shit to find gold.
... I was talking about the difference in WHAT KIND of shit you have to wade through.
It certainly doesn't look like anything an adult would be interested in.
I know I would :pervert: [editline]02:49PM[/editline] Oh wait... that came out wrong. Whatever, I'm not an adult anyway, so you may be right. Then again, the question wasn't "Does this look like it's something for adults?" it was "Does this look like a show for kids?", and if you say yes to that then you're a bad parent. But then again, I probably ain't much better [editline]02:51PM[/editline]
Huh? I don't see your point. The only "brutal" anime I've watched it Elfen Lied, and there they used the the 5 first episodes to introduce the characters and make you feel like they had personalities, simply bonding you to the character, and then they finished it of by brutally murdering EVERYONE. Alot of limb-tearing and eye-squishing were had. It was depressing, nevertheless it was interesting. Wow, then again, you can fit more story into a book than you can a 30-minute television slot.

So either it's porn, or it's exploitative junk for teenagers and man-children.
