Eh? Dunno about Lucky Star and pedo. It seems very "chibi" or whatever and more desexualised than anything. Although I guess some of them do have boobs... and then there's the pervy and yuri jokes later on.. and.. um... never mind.
At least in Haruhi they seem to be playing the trope straight more as a parody of the medium.
It's possible to have shows about 15 year olds that don't look like the creators fantasize about the characters.
But this is Japan we're talking about. Most shit from Japan has something to do with sex if it isn't extremely cute. And then there's the overlap. :ohdear:
At least she looks about 15, a lot don't even get that right.

That doesn't make it not creepy :v:

I was going to point out the difference between Lucky Star and chibi, but googling chibi was just pages of Naruto. I almost tried to claw my eyes out.

It's better when it's creepy. :q:
Because it's a scam
No, lucky star is not "Chibi"
Yeah whatever, the point is they look like little children and not sexual at all to me.
Yeah whatever, the point is they look like little children and not sexual at all to me.
and then they show pictures like this

wut
and then they show pictures like this
and that's not even from an anime.
[editline]10:42PM[/editline]
or make sense.

You're desensitized.
Japanese animation is not as flexible do to their style. The style was born from trying to cut production costs. I'm an animation major in college and have taken survey of animation classes, so at least give me some credibility.
In my personal opinion, Ren and Stimpy has the most appealing animation style. (to me at least)

This one shows the obvious influence from the art-deco movement.

Eh...
But GitS is so boooring. Has it's moments and is overall a show better than most, but... Eh.
I kinda have to agree with you, there's a lot of talking and not enough action for the most part, but the overall atmosphere compared to the rest of the crap I've seen and the actually decent English dubbing kept me watching it.
But that probably stems from my love of the political/cyberpunk/scifi/Blade Runner genre I've grown so attached to.
[img_thumb]http://mimg.ugo.com/201004/41512/pokemon-diamond-and-pearl-group.png[/img_thumb]
[img_thumb]http://anime.osiristeam.net/images/others/haruhi3.jpg[/img_thumb]
Only real difference I can see is that Pokemon is more cheaply drawn. But they still share the same aesthetic ideas, like huge eyes, trapezoidal heads, garish colors, and unnaturally colored spiky hair.
And this Haruhi thing unsurprisingly gives off a bit of a creepy pedophile vibe.
...
What?
With this kind of judgement there is hardly any variation in western cartoons either.
Pokemon and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is nothing alike in any way other than being produced in the same country and sharing similarish drawing style.
The hair isn't spikey in Haruhi either. Unlike most western cartoons anime actually draws all of the hair, not just the general blob shape of it or 3 straws of it. In Haruhi it's actually animated, in Pokemon it's just there as if someone put so much gel in it that it became rock hard.
Sudden Girlfriend Appearance
What?
1. The really big eyes (they have a weird shape aswell, its sort of like a circle but without edges)
2. The dumb hairstyles (spikes... nuf said)
3. The massive weapons the characters hold (Giant swords, giant guns, giant everything... probably animators overcompensating)
4. Annoying voices (especially the Jap voices, worst actors in the world hired to scream and they get 10 year old girls to play 25 year old guys)
5. Terrible writing for the most part (No flow, filler episodes, seriously retarded)
6. The annoying expressions they make

Way to generalize, tard.

1,2,3,4 and 6 can easily be avoided.
But that number 5 is a pretty huge thing that makes or breaks every story.
And #5 isn't even limited to anime, it's fairly universal to all media types.
Way to generalize, tard.
But its true, show me an anime that doesn't have at least one of them. Of course there are some animes even I like, because the story allows me to overlook the majority of those.

And how many anime series have you seen? Three?
And out of the few series you have watched, how many of them are NOT the overused mainstream series? None?

Thanks for that, I'm pleasantly suprised, first anime I have seen that doesn't have a ridiculous art style and or voice acting and or bad story. But anyway, I still am against the majority of popular anime that is spewed out like the latest mario games, just like new American cartoons.

Throughout my life time I've probably had about 12 that I have liked, most of them I hate now because I realize how weird they are. My friends and many others have tried to get me involved with anime, and none of them they showed me have I ever liked, most of them I had never heard of either.
The animes I like at the moment are: FMA and Hellsing, both of them I watch the dubs because I can't stand the acting in the others, even thought the dub acting is nothing special.
Don't be hating on Mario. :colbert:
But that number 5 is a pretty huge thing that makes or breaks every story.
Like Moreto says it's an universal matter. Not something that has anything to do with anime at all.
Don't be hating on Mario. :colbert:
Mario was good for about the first few games, now they are spewing them out like its Sonic and soon to be COD. I like the first few games, inc. supersmash bross, mario kart, mario brothers, super mario 64, but now its at the point of ridiculousness.

What?
But I hope you've seen Hellsing Ultimate then? Not the shit stain called Hellsing, a.k.a the TV series. That shit was poorly made and just became ridicilous.
