The animes I like at the moment are: FMA and Hellsing, both of them I watch the dubs because I can't stand the acting in the others, even thought the dub acting is nothing special.
Generally the quality of dubs is fairly low, either in the lypsync or the voices they chose. Wolf's Rain is a example of a good dub in my books, the voices are quite similar to the japanese ones and do feel right for the characters themselves too.
What? But I hope you've seen Hellsing Ultimate then? Not the shit stain called Hellsing, a.k.a the TV series. That shit was poorly made and just became ridicilous.
Sorry but I don't read manga, sure some people like it but I prefer to stick to novels and movies/tv. If its against the manga lore, and you love the manga, then you can dislike it. But me not knowing the manga, I don't mind if they changed anything.
Mario was good for about the first few games, now they are spewing them out like its Sonic and soon to be COD. I like the first few games, inc. supersmash bross, mario kart, mario brothers, super mario 64, but now its at the point of ridiculousness.
Unlike Sonic, the Mario games have been good. There's nothing wrong with releasing more Mario games as long as they keep up with the high standard for which it's been famous - which it has. They don't have to continue a story or anything, they just have to give you more fun levels on which you can play. You play a Mario game for the fun levels, and that's how it's always been. There's absolutely nothing wrong with Nintendo releasing more of these games as all they do is give you more. Not to mention Super Mario Galaxy was one of the most unique platformers in recent years. While games that cost more, had much more effort into them got much lower scores. Do you mean the original hellsing series? If so, then I haven't seen it, but as I said, I don't care if anythings different cause I didn't see the original.

It only had the same premise and style - hence "sequel". It's gotten perfect reviews since it's a quality platformer that is essentially faultless.

I said watched. Not read.
Do you mean the original hellsing series? If so, then I haven't seen it, but as I said, I don't care if anythings different cause I didn't see the original.
Now I'm starting to wonder what you really watched. There is Hellsing which is a 13 episode TV series. And there is Hellsing Ultimate which is a 7 episode long OVA which is still in production.
Now I'm starting to wonder what you really watched. There is Hellsing which is a 13 episode TV series. And there is Hellsing Ultimate which is a 7 episode long OVA which is still in production.
I watched the 13 episode one.
I watched the 13 episode one.
Yeah, that's the bad one. You should check out the OVA. That's some kickass shit. Since you liked the TV series which was so... Ugh... I can guarantee you that you'll like it.
So because it works well as a platformer it should get 100/100, while games such as Half-life 2, Counter-Strike, Team Fortress 2, Bad Company 2 get 80s-90s?
It's in a completely different genre, so don't compare them. When people review games and rate them, the score is obviously going to drop due to faults and flaws. Sure, the games you rated are fantastic (although I haven't played BC2 yet) and you could say they're some of the best in the genre, but obviously they're not perfect. SMG2 is getting perfect scores since, as a platformer, it's easily one of the most well-made, well-rounded, and generally perfected in the genre. The score doesn't mean it's better than games from other genres with lower scores.
Yeah, that's the bad one. You should check out the OVA. That's some kickass shit. Since you liked the TV series which was so... Ugh... I can guarantee you that you'll like it.
Ok I will check it out, I will try and watch a bit of the dub and the sub to see which I prefer, then watch the series that way.
It's in a completely different genre, so don't compare them. When people review games and rate them, the score is obviously going to drop due to faults and flaws. Mario is also a decent platformer, but it is not perfect, the game is closely similar to the first, and for a game with no story or in-depth gameplay mechanics that should take a bit off the score. Although they are different genres, the average metacritic score puts Super Mario Galaxy 2 as the second best game of all time, only behind Ocarina of Time (Which holds its place, as it should). There are platformers that have been better than this Mario as well, including Oddworld: Abes Odyssey. Not only this, but I think Half-Life and Counter-Strike are both better FPSs then Mario Galaxy is a platformer, and as such, deserve a higher rating.
Yeah, that's the bad one. You should check out the OVA. That's some kickass shit. Since you liked the TV series which was so... Ugh...
But the OVA takes place between episodes of the TV series, so you probably should watch that first.
Uh... What? The TV series follows the manga at first then just wanders into a story of it's own completely out of the blue that has jack shit to do with Hellsing. The OVA just follows the manga.
Really? I'm thought the OVA was between the episode where the Hellsing HQ is attacked by the Valantine Brothers and the episode after that.
Really? I'm thought the OVA was between the episode where the Hellsing HQ is attacked by the Valantine Brothers and the episode after that.
Nope. Notice the complete lack of nazis and how the father was only shown like... once, and then he never comes back at all and is completely forgotten about. They just made up their own story to make it end at the 13th episode.
Yes, it is a different genre. You can't lower a game's score for something it doesn't have or do, and doesn't need. That's like saying Half Life 2 deserves to have some points taken off its score because it doesn't have an open world - obviously, the way it plays means it doesn't need this, and it's not the point of the games.
Although they are different genres, the average metacritic score puts Super Mario Galaxy 2 as the second best game of all time, only behind Ocarina of Time (Which holds its place, as it should).
The point of that list is to show all the highest rated games from that site. It's not an "all time best list". If you look at the lists by genre, then you'd have more credible lists.
There are platformers that have been better than this Mario as well, including Oddworld: Abes Odyssey.
That's your own opinion and that's fine. However, most people wouldn't share this same opinion.
Not only this, but I think Half-Life and Counter-Strike are both better FPSs then Mario Galaxy is a platformer, and as such, deserve a higher rating.
You can't say this; it's not like there's some scale you can use compare two different genres. It's your opinion if you prefer one game from one genre to another from a different genre, but you can't scale ratings because of the genre. You just can't compare scores from different genres.

What your saying can be applied to anything though, such as saying you can't hate on Starcraft 2 for not having Lan because it doesn't need to and it isn't the intention of the developer.
You can't say this; it's not like there's some scale you can use compare two different genres.
I said a game that doesn't have a story or in-depth gameplay mechanics, mario has neither.
Yeah, and that's not the point. It's a platformer. You could say this about pretty much every arcade game that's ever existed. It would be idiotic to call these games crap for those reasons. [editline]05:44PM[/editline] I disagree with the gameplay mechanics thing though.
I hate Anime because just listening to it without even watching it sounds retarded. :v:
The only manga or anime I can look back on and say was good is Death Note, until halfway through when... well, you know what happened. If you don't, read Death Note.
The only manga or anime I can look back on and say was good is Death Note, until halfway through when... well, you know what happened. If you don't, read Death Note.
But you know shit's serious when he's going to eat a potato chip, man!
I've been shown an Anime which I really like called Angel Beats and some people may find it generic but the first 3 episodes are fucking awesome because the place is like Valhalla. Eat, Fuck, Kill, repeat.
I like manga and anime, but when it gets the the luckystar styled bullshit "OMG KAWAII~" I just can't stand it.
I like manga and anime, but when it gets the the luckystar styled bullshit "OMG KAWAII~" I just can't stand it.
Agreed. But I dislike manga. Too time consuming but then again same with anime.
Pokemon and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is nothing alike in any way other than being produced in the same country and sharing similarish drawing style.
I thought the visual style was what we were talking about.
The hair isn't spikey in Haruhi either.
Yes it is.
Unlike most western cartoons anime actually draws all of the hair, not just the general blob shape of it or 3 straws of it.
Now you're being silly. People have thousands of hairs on their head, you can't draw all of it. Anime generalizes it into spikes. Whether they flop around or stand still isn't really the issue. [editline]09:39PM[/editline]
And #5 isn't even limited to anime, it's fairly universal to all media types.
There's a lot of badly-written Western stuff, but most anime is an order of magnitude worse. It's like comparing a burglar to Osama bin Laden.
Why is this thread still on page one every time I look.
There's a lot of badly-written Western stuff, but most anime is an order of magnitude worse. It's like comparing a burglar to Osama bin Laden.
Yo. [sp]I'm an alt of don818 so don't go off when you see the same IP[/sp]
And #5 isn't even limited to anime, it's fairly universal to all media types.
What do you mean by "Media types"? That could be computer format such as MKV or AVI to DVD or UMD.
I thought the visual style was what we were talking about.
It is, and they're really nothing alike. No more alike than Edd, Ed and Eddy is to Aladdin anyway. And the hair in Haruhi really isn't spiky. It's a bit stylised with spikes, but this is fairly normal in any kind of drawing of hair really. There's no simple strokes or giant erect hair-dongs to be seen anywhere. It's very naturalistic hair save the colour in two of the characters. Which isn't bad at all, god forbid people style their hair.
