Most anime is just ridiculous, I hate it because of that, all though I did watch Interstella 5555 and enjoyed that, it was like a big long music video.
It really doesn't take that long to draw the average pair of tits
I can draw 12 pairs in just over two minutes if I completely disregard everything above the shoulders and below the belly button
What I mean is that they have to spend hours just drawing the character, generally taking account the bone structure, muscle tissues and blah blah blah artist babling and stuff, defining the forms and shapes of the boobs for quite a time.
So that they get something like this:

Trust me, I know dem boobs

You do know that wasn't drawn by the same guys that drew the anime, right?

i mean, it even says "aerisdies.com" in the top left, which is a hentai site.
More like Cowboy Bebop.
That too.

Well you get the point anyway
They don't get paid much for animating, but they spend ages animating it.
If I remember correctly, I could of sworn I read somewhere that they get paid less than a fast food worker. I forget the source, so consider this an invalid argument, I just wanted to through that out there.

Nope, you're right. I'm pretty sure you're thinking of sankaku complex.

I love this show so much.
Post count and respect, I guess
I don't give a shit about post count and respect is something I'll never earn, nor really wish for. As long as I'm heard I'm fine.
As I said it seems to question the very foundation of fiction within the framework of a fictional metareality that really could be seen as the manifestation of the authors mind. In other words, if the whole thing is to be taken as a dream, surely Nagaru Tanigawa is the dreamer. Similar in a way I suppose to 1/0, but significantly more ambiguous and complex. It also acknowledges nihilism in the youth of the modern world but instead of a cause of depression proposes it as an inspiration for action. It explores the principles of luck and plays out extremes of personality in an interesting arena. There's a lot to think about and I really like that.
And yeah, it's clear that they use the tropes to their advantage in terms of sales. I think that's part of the genius really. What worth is your story if nobody hears it? And it can also make you wonder sometimes if they really just are a bunch of raving idiots who happened to concoct something seemingly interesting rather than genuinely good. Again, I like that.
Well you certainly drag things far out, that's for sure. I don't really get what you mean with the whole thing possibly just being a dream, but I understand what you mean with nihilism.
It's not that genius because in anime it's divided in 3.
The 5% that don't really use those tropes. Then 35% that use the tropes in the same way Haruhi does and 60% that use them seriously.

Just finished watching this. Easily one of the funniest anime I've seen.
The live-action movie was good too. I was surprised they were able to get Gene Simmons to play a role.
Eh.
It was good but the humor was too linear and similar all the way through so it kinda died out over time. Pretty much the same problem Cromartie Highschool had.
It was a nice source for making GIF's though.

It's right up there with Welcome to the NHK and Golden Boy for me. (The NHK manga was funnier though)

NHK was much better, haven't seen Golden Boy yet.

To be honest I used to respect you, but I lost respect when you started raging about the tiniest things.
Just saying.

I've always raged at the tiniest things.
So if you did happen to respect me before you just haden't seen the actual me yet. It's not a "fault" I'm planning to change.
NHK was much better, haven't seen Golden Boy yet.
Oh, NHK is definitely better; NHK is easily one of my favorite anime shows.
Just... in terms of how much it made me laugh, DMC is right up there (behind though). This is about me, of course.
This is about me, of course.
Obviously. Who else?
Obviously. Who else?
Just wanna make sure I don't sound like "blah blah x is better than x"

I guess. When i first went on Fast Anime, you used to post reviews on Anime and what you thought about it, and i respected you because you seemed to know your shit. But nowadays it seems you forget that most people here just watch shows because it's entertaining :|
Not sure about the last part though. You and chunkymonkey are almost becoming one, so it's hard to tell.
Just wanna make sure I don't sound like "blah blah x is better than x"
I sound like that all the time.
If people missunderstand me then I'll just have to correct it up afterwards. it annoys me how people can't seem to grasp it that when you discuss something you're always using your own opinion about it. When you state facts you say they're facts, when you don't you're stating your opinion.

Yeah, I kinda stopped posting summaries about what I thought about each show. No particular reason.
I watch shows becuase I want to be entertained. And obviously people watch shows to be entertained. But I can't just give something a score of 10/10 because "I was entertained". It needs to be almost, or fully perfect then. A 9/10 is also an impressive feat and needs to lack almost all forms of flaws. And I'm also trained to see flaws because the school line I've been going and I want to job in media, and given animes low budgets and much linearity I become highly critical.
Also most shows are just re-hashes of the same old shit over and over again, the main reason I adored anime in the start was that it was something new unlike live-action movies and TV shows from our western culture which was just re-hashes of the same shit. But after having seen over 100 shows you see that the same shit is going on there. Which of course is unavoidable. But then I of course become more critical over time when I'm watching the same show with slightly different visuals in a slightly different setting for the 50thiet time.

Jesus Christ that's appalling. And yes, I get that he's supposed to be an idiot, but they really really need to watch their language.

Yeah see, that was my point all along, there will be inevitably swathes of bullshit. Be it western or eastern. Video games, movies, tv shows, animation, comics, music, whatever. The thing I do to avoid dealing with that is to just not seek out entertainment at all. We're drowning in entertainment, it is perfectly capable of finding you. Every single animé I've watched so far has been one that fell into my lap somehow. It's a very nice way of separating the good from the bad, because if something bad falls into your lap you simply discard it out of hand.
I say you can only really blame yourself for jumping head first into the pool and not knowing how to swim. Now you have drowned.
Hell if i know. I thought they were girls and then i realised it's guys kissing, holy shit "flatline"
:psyduck:
I say you can only really blame yourself for jumping head first into the pool and not knowing how to swim. Now you have drowned.
What?
I only watch stuff based on if I find it interesting or if others highly recommend me to watch it.
I did the fall in the lap thing in the start.
Yeah well, obviously at some point it went beyond that.
Yeah well, obviously at some point it went beyond that.
Uh... No.
I still follow that guideline.
My taste just differ highly from the norm.
Like Miyazaki movies are praised in the sky by anime lovers and haters alike. And I sit there and don't understand shit of why these generic children movies are getting all this praise. They're good. But nothing really great. I've only seen one review that was critical towards most of his works, otherwise I've only heard praise and whenver I say he's bad I get box invaded. But neither me nor my friend understood what all the fuss is about becuase the works I've seen by him that is the most praised were not creative, original or anything. Besides some cool creature designs.

You'll be great at the job. Trust me.
[editline]12:25PM[/editline]
lol i just watch anime people recommend in Fast Anime
most people i know in real life that watch anime only know bleach, naruto, one piece and lucky star
You'll be great at the job. Trust me.
I'm not so sure about that either.
I'm a highly technical person. But I have no creativity. I can see what's wrong but I have a hard time figuring a way to fix it or go around it to make it right.
Basically I sit with all this information and can go on for hours talking about what you need to do and fix up to make it technically good. But to make it creative, new and innovative? Ehh... A lot of information but no way to apply it myself.
I'm like a blueprint trying to call itself art. And having this attitude doesn't really help either, but it's hard to stop being so self-aware becuase I don't want to be arrogant and mr "I'm better than you" which is an attitude that brings up great works even if it creates many unlikeable personalities.
What job are you aiming for in media?
