There is a lot more than bad drivers that can cause accidents.

What's the point to editing his post like that
I got mine a couple months ago.
For peace of mind, it's pretty much the best ~$150 investment you can make.
Takes nice pictures too.

Mini 0801, about $100.

They're made by a bunch of different manufacturers, though they're all effectively identical except for the languages/units available.
Mine has GPS logging, so if I use the program that comes with it to view a video, it'll pull up the GPS location every couple frames onto Google Maps.

Sunshine Skyway bridge, Tampa Bay, Florida.
If you rear end someone it's always your fault. But they were on a bend, there were probably trees in the way
And what does that have to do with the vehicle behind him not stopping? From the time they were slowing down, the vehicle that ran into them had 3-4 seconds of stopping time. That wasn't the fault of the dashcam driver.
Yeah, exactly. Anyone that looks more than ten feet past their hood would have had no problem stopping here, which was nicely demonstrated by the camera vehicle.
And that's why you don't follow so fucking close to another car.
The camera vehicle wasn't following too closely. If you'll pay attention you'll see that he got fully stopped without even tripping his ABS. His follow distance was fine.
Unless you're referring to the guy behind.
And this is why I'm buying a dashcam
Cheap way into it is to buy a suction cup dash mount for your smartphone. My Droid 3 captured pretty decent dashcam footage in this manner(It even came with such a mount when I got the phone!). Here, an idiot I captured driving home one day.
And yet he was able to come to a full and complete stop before the third vehicle rammed into him.
That wasn't a hard stop. Had the blue vehicle slammed on the brakes, he probably would've gone into the back of him.

is the basic gist of what you're trying to say that if i'm on a bridge and someone pushes me off and i land on something and break it it's my fault for not expecting to get pushed off a bridge
the driver with the dash cam stopped before he hit the blue car.. it's not his fault.
this is also the fast lane, where cars are supposed to go fast. maybe the dashcam driver was going a reasonable (for the fast lane) speed while the blue car was going very slow and the dashcam driver was going to pass him. of course no one can know for sure..
I would be mad as fuck and would drag that dude out of his vehicle, even though that's probably what he wanted
Right, and both the others are going to say yeah, he stopped.
Word vs Word, never works. But the blue car was rear ended thus the fault lies with the guy who rear ended him.
Of course there was a third car involved, so even without the camera, the guy in the blue car would have been fucked

It doesn't matter if it was or wasn't his fault, he rear ended him, the fault lies with him. That's just how the law goes. It's called Assured Cleared Distance. It's why in places like Russia, and now the UK I guess, Dash Cams are becoming wide spread, because it's an easy fraud to do, and hard to prove
There used to be a popular type of insurance fraud where two guys on a radio would pick someone out on the highway, one car would pull up beside him so he couldn't change lanes, and the second guy would be in front and just slam his brakes, causing an accident. It's probably still popular but I haven't heard of it in a while
Reading this thread makes me feel good about myself.
If it's an attempt at insurance fraud, there is no argument against the cam driver, no matter how "close" you think he is.
And this is why I'm buying a dashcam
Especially in Australia if you're a P plater.
Not sure how it is in other states, but if you're involved in a crash, regardless if it's your fault or not, you are held responsible.
I've gotten mine to make sure that if I am involved in a crash and it isn't my fault. I'm going to damn well make sure the blame isn't ever put on me. Especially since P plater driving turbo car, they are gonna be really anal about it.
And you catch people doing stuff like this (Yeah I added the shitty panning in)

why does it seem like everyone with a dash cam has a habit of vocally calling out bad driving and then posting it to youtube
i swear to god i know like 4 people with dash cams and they all do this
one guy i know does this thing where if he sees someone commit a moving violation he'll yell out their license plate numbers in military radio code then he uploads it to facebook or whatever

I think it's just a habit for some. I don't have a dashcam but I always bitch about and call out people who cannot seem to fucking grasp the concept of "right of way".
I never shout at people while driving. I just think "What a dickhead" if someone fucks up.
Its hard to tell because of the quality of the video, but it looks like the blue car's brake lights aren't functioning either, which makes it harder to let people behind you know that you're braking.
I never shout at people while driving. I just think "What a dickhead" if someone fucks up.
My favourite is " 'ots this clown doin'?"
I mean hell, I just failed my P1 test on Tuesday and even I know which fucking direction a roundabout goes.
why does it seem like everyone with a dash cam has a habit of vocally calling out bad driving and then posting it to youtube
Makes it easier to realize where it is when editing a 30 second clip out of a 45 minute video. Sometimes relying on just audio makes it easy to miss, but if you also vocally call 'em out your ears will catch on that.
The shouting serves a purpose!
As for the reason to actually post it...well...a lot of people get a chuckle out of such things. It's the same sort of audience that always tunes into those clip shows on fucking TruTV and Spike.
Its hard to tell because of the quality of the video, but it looks like the blue car's brake lights aren't functioning either, which makes it harder to let people behind you know that you're braking.
Nah you can see them light up, look carefully. Sometimes people disconnect the safety brake light (the one in the window) to commit fraud since there's no law that says it has to work
And a lot of times it just stops working and they never replace it because they're not required to by law. Or perhaps they're driving something so old it doesn't even have one.
While it's not at all the tailgating of the cam car that caused the accident, wow he is close to the blue car. Looks like less than a second when they were going at full speed.
...no he isn't?
