Ur story reminds me of this one time when I was at the park with my mom and this black kid was drinkin from the Fountain before me and i was just like UH my poppop could of bought your poppop and like drink from a diff fountain pleae. (i don't usually think like that but i was just REALLY THIRSTY lol)
Instead of ignoring them, why not befriend them? Don't try to become best friends or anything but just ignoring them makes you look like a douchebag, when otherwise you would have left a nice impression in their minds. Maybe they'll help you if you have problems or at the very least won't single you out for ridicule.
That sucks man. You should of taken charge and just pushed them out of the way though.
I know when I'm trying to get to class and there are random ass freshmen, or any other grade for that matter, I'm not afraid of pushing people out of my way (yes, I push seniors out of my way....I have not gotten in to any fights with them though. I did this A LOT last year when I was a sophomore. Now that I look back on it, for some reason, I feel sorta brave/badass for doing it).
