Already posted but Plastic Beach by Gorillaz. That's all that really interested me this year.

Fuck, I forgot about 65daysofstatic and Gorillaz. I can't wait for music in 2011. Also, this: [img_thumb]http://www.israbox.com/uploads/posts/2010-05/1273172054_god-is-an-astronaut-age-of-the-fifth-sun-2010.jpg[/img_thumb] God Is An Astronaut - Age of the Fifth Sun
Most of the stuff in this thread is really worth giving a listen. Trust me.
Most of it isn't my type of music, and I cbf to buy/download music right now. But I'll keep that in mind.
me and a friend have both been trying to put a top 10, so far I've got Janelle Monae - The Archandroid, Big Boi - Sir Lucious..., Owen Pallett - Heartland, Black Keys - Brothers, Kanye West - My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, Karkwa - Les Chemins De Verre, and Option Paralysis by The Dillinger Escape Plan. still working on the last couple of ones [editline]4th December 2010[/editline]
Fuck, I forgot about 65daysofstatic and Gorillaz. But again, I haven't really listened to it much. I just love In The Distance Fading. Need to pay it more attention. Same with At The Edge of Time by Blind Guardian
Hey, what do Frightened Rabbit sound like? I might give them a listen.
Hey, what do Frightened Rabbit sound like? I might give them a listen.
They sound good. Not sure which you'd prefer between The Midnight Organ Fight and The Winter of Mixed Drinks though. The latter is more upbeat, the former is all boohoo im nancu relationship stuff. But still good music and not totally miserable. But for the sake of Christmas, here's an example. It's not an album song so it isn't spoiling anything, just in case you're a "whole albums or nothing" kinda guy. Also I guess his voice is kinda whiny but that doesn't bother me.
I never really understood how people take Dimmu Borgir seriously. I was really into Hot Topic black metal for a while when I was younger and then I realized how fucking cheesy Dimmu Borgir is, failed shock rock.
Awesome Symphonic Black Metal. Sorry, but it's true.
[img_thumb]http://www.cmdistro.com/images/xlarge/35059.jpg[/img_thumb]
Yeah this is fucking brilliant. They're a fantastic band. Symphonic black metal is the only genre for them.
Obviously Plasic Beach which never failed to dissapoint as happens with Gorillaz albums. great collaborations and overall a strong album. The Suburbs was also one (if not my definate) favorite. The whole album was an incredible listen from start to finish with a great flow, no song felt out of place and they were all brilliant. On par if not better than Neon Bible. The Suburbs and We uSed to Wait are my absolute favorites.
My list so far: Janelle Monae - The Archandroid The National - High Violet Kanye West - My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy Flying Lotus - Cosmogramma Arcade Fire - The Suburbs Autechre - Oversteps Big Boi - Sir Lucious Left Foot Ceephax Acid Crew - United Acid Emiartes The Black Keys - Brothers Joanna Newsom - Have One On Me Madlib - Medicine Show #5: History of the Loop Digga, 1990-2000 Gorillaz - Plastic Beach Matthew Dear - Black City Meat Beat Manifesto - Answers Come in Dreams Caribou - Swim Lukid - Chord There's a bit more I want to listen to and probably remember first before I make a final list, though.

I loved that CD even more than the normal CD.

Thanks! :buddy: Also, FUCK, how did I forget about Manic Street Preachers. That album is top-notch.

Maybe it's because I've become more musically aware over the past 365 days, but this year seems to have been way better than recent years for new releases.
This year is fantastic!
Indeed it is. Great year for new music as strayebyrd pointed out, and overall a superb year for music in general.
so it isn't just me! I was thinking a couple of days ago "I don't really remember a time when there was so many fantastic albums released in such a relatively small space of time" But I wasn't sure if that was just because before I wasn't really as 'musically acquainted' as I am now.
So if everyone is only recently getting properly acquainted where are last year's facepunchers here?
They all died. [editline]4th December 2010[/editline] I think I have a top ten in no order: Lukid - Chord Janelle Monae - The Archandroid Arcade Fire - The Suburbs Flying Lotus - Cosmogramma Kanye West - My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy Joanna Newsom - Have One On Me Madlib - Medicine Show #5: History of the Loop Digga, 1990-2000 The National - High Violet Ceephax Acid Crew - United Acid Emirates Sufjan Stevens - The Age Of Adz
That's probably my top album of the year, but I'm finding it really hard to think of top albums, because I've barely heard any bad music this year :byodood: Apart from Fever, Fever was shit in so many ways

I always go blank at these things. I'll come back if I remember anything else. There were loads last year though :v:
The Suburbs by Arcade Fire definitely wins this for me, if not extending further to one of my favourite albums of the decade. Will have to see if it 'lasts', but on feeling alone it wins
