it wasn't just trump that won the election
the republican party has been fighting against lgbt rights for decades, and they now have majorities in the House and Senate, aka the entirety of our legislative body that writes and approves new bills before they get sent to President Trump to enact into federal law
They don't have supermajorities though, so the Dems could theoretically filibuster everything
Is there nothing in the American political system that prevents LGBT / human rights laws being repealed?
If someone wished to repeal some sort of LGBT law here they'd suffer political suicide in the commons and the lords.
People in the US make careers off of it
