It's just a different belief. He likes to keep his Internet life separate from his real life.
All my friends are online. I love them but I do still get a bit lonely at times. One guy I played games with for years stayed with me for a week last year which was pretty cool but I haven't had any in person social interaction (besides family and work) since then.
I wanna visit all of my closest friends in person one day.

managing anonymity by geographic proximity is not the same issue as branding digital communication incapable of friendship
I can't speak for Vincentor, but to me a true friend isn't just someone you hang out with or act friendly towards, wether it be online or IRL. I can't really put it into words because friendship to me isn't some kind of mutual agreement, it's just the feeling of naturally realising, "hey, I actually consider this person a friend". I can't force myself to think "this person is a friend" just because we interract alot. It doesn't have anything to do with it being online or IRL, its just that to a certain kind of person, the relation being online brings hurdles that can't be overcome.
I agree with all of that, except that there's no reason to stipulate personal presence as a prerequisite. Not spending much time online will of course mean spending less time around internet-based acquaintances, but the digital aspect itself has nothing to do with that (unless you have some issue where you can't regard human beings as real without seeing them in 3D).
I dont know if I missunderstood something, but when I'm saying that a person isn't my real friend I'm not saying I can't see them as a real person or that the relation between us is fake.
One prerequisite (not the only one though) for me to actually be able to consider someone a friend is to actually physically hang out with them. I have no logical reason behind it, that's just the way my brain makes me feel about it.
I would change how i feel about this in a heartbeat if I could, but alas.
I've actually lost contact with a bunch of people because of this, but I don't want to lie to peoples faces when they ask me if I consider them a friend.
They can still be friends. For my stance, I'd just never open up about my whole life and such to an online friend. The whole physical contact part plays a big deal.
To quote my pothead English teacher, "Personal preference is an excuse to explain your reasoning for anything."
I loathe physical contact so tbh internet friends are pretty ideal they can't do something horrid like try to hug me
why not just be friends with everyone

Pretty much this for me. No social interaction sucks :c
Although I don't really talk to many people online either so it's extra lonely.

What's not to like about hugs from a friend?
He might try and slip you a mickey while you ain't looking.
Then take advantage, or cop a feel.
it's hard for me to hug someone that I'm not also attracted to

What's wrong with a 375ml of booze?
I was under the impression that slipping someone a mickey is literally drugging them, or has that term fallen out of favour.
HE'S TRYING TO DRUG YOU SO HE CAN TAKE OFF YE' NICKERS AND GIVE YA' ASS A SHAG AY'.

Nevermind, calling a 375ml of booze a "mickey" is an exclusively Canadian thing.
On the subject of ML and such.
If we measure (in the UK) our cars in Miles Per Gallon, why do we buy our fuel in Litres?

Crockey, eh?
Cool update. Found another guy I'm driving over to hang out with tomorrow. Going to cuddle, play some games, and chit chat. My social circle expands!
Yeah. I mean, I'll accept if some people think it's kinda sad and loser-ish to not have real life friends or whatever, but talking to anyone, even if it's through text, makes me feel like I do at least.
I only made one real life freind and that was at college.
Most of my freinds are online, they're pretty cool.
I meet my online friends in real life
meeting online friends is dope
highly recommended
It's dope when you have sex with them.
Meeting online friends is cool. Unfortunately every online friendship that i had and i end up meeting them, they always start off cool but then i end up seeing how they really are and you start seeing they're really fickle and judgemental and selfish.
Maybe its just a personal experience of mine haha, just happened to be the same case with the only 3 people i met from the net.
All of my online friends are qts who i'd love to hang with
