The Brazilians watching the game were more like desperate, in grief, that the game wasn't going well, to the point where they were booing Chile. While the Chileans were the cheering nonstop by being so near victory.
I don't think that a public that keeps on booing the opponent by no reason deserves the victory.

I think the issue is that it's one thing to celebrate the victory of your own team, and another to shit talk your opponent after a close victory
