it forces the gender role, until they're old enough to actually understand and grow out of it it'll only truly force the gender role when you don't let them be what gender they want to be something else that being said, if you want to do that with your own kids, obviously that's extremely good, but, I don't think its OK to get angry at others when they don't do it. I personally am a huge fan of uni-sexual names, too.
it's forcing the roles regardless of if it's the ones that match your sex or not
no im sure there are people who would say stupid shit like ban the words boy and girl, but these people are not doing that. my world model has allowed me to accept the fact that you are saying something i disagree with, so why would i not do the same with them if i thought there was something to disagree with??

im not doing that at all, there are certainly people out there who call themselves feminists and spout dumb shit. if i thought these people were serious i would just disagree with them.
Then why take it as a fact that all of those tweets are jokes? And it's a common practice not to disagree (by ignoring, denying existence) with someone from a group you strongly support.
and the words are inherently weighted with expectation dont be so naive
Only if your definition of boy/girl includes it. You can call your baby a girl and still give her toy cars and play football with her. Just because you call your child a girl doesn't mean you have to buy her barbies and play house with her.
Man okay I don't get how my parents letting me play with wrestling action figures and watch Power Rangers was instilling me with a male disposition. I'm sure if I wanted to do "girly" stuff my parents would have let me but I never did. If you say that it basically makes gender identity out to be a fickle social construct and undermines Transgenderism.
instilling =/= enforcing forcing x gender roles on someone of y gender won't make them x. and nobody has even said that
I do think this argument is dissecting things WAY WAY too much I mean we all obviously agree with LGBT being the obviously correct way I simply want LGBT as much as the next guy just want a more careful way of doing it the others here simply accept more different opinions on LGBT rights than I do :v:
feminism means a lot of things and varies from person to person. you don't decide what they are silly sil, soz if the main focus is gender and sex equality then it is feminism, and from what i can see that's what he's all for
What don't I decide? What are you talking about?
What don't I decide? What are you talking about?
http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1301901&p=41978652&viewfull=1#post41978652 in that quote you say that as if he only thinks he's a feminist
not modified, different [editline]27th August 2013[/editline] you say that as if yours is the 'correct' one that everyone shares
I'm saying that supporting LGBT is the correct way I'd confidently say that to anti gays, that supporting gay rights is the right way. You can still disagree with it, its not wrong to be against gays, but, I know LGBT rights will be accepted.
modified is still bad wording
instilling =/= enforcing forcing x gender roles on someone of y gender won't make them x. and nobody has even said that
Well I don't believe that genders have "roles" but I also don't believe that boys and girls liking different things is a "role". If you accept transgenderism, you accept at least a minimal amount of difference between genders. One of them might be interests. It's not subversive to gender equality to assume your male child will like something "masculine" because, let's face it, he probably will. But if he doesn't, and you don't accept that, then it's a problem. But making an assumption from the start? No big deal.

What the fuck are you talking about? I was talking about the tweets from the OP and other stupid shit that OTHER PEOPLE who call themselves feminists say, and how hellduck will ignore their existence by branding them jokes offhand.
modified is still bad wording
which I corrected as different (as it should have been)
