To clarify, I liked the action, imagery and film techniques. I did not care for the plot at all.

They were there to instill fear, to show them they don't fuck around.
My favorite movie of all time. Christoph Waltz is one of the best actors ever to grace a movie screen.

One of the main themes of the movie is that the basterds are portrayed as vicious and sadistic beasts who slaughter Nazis for fun. While the Nazis are shown a more cultured and human side (especially with the sympathetic Frederick Zoller)
The final scene in the theater is a great parallel, because you see the Nazis watching a movie of Zoller killing Americans, and they are having a great time, laughing as the soldiers get killed. Next thing you know, the basterds break in and start slaughtering the Nazis, and I don't know about you, but I was laughing my ass off during the scene.
It shows the double standard most people have, how we can be appalled that they would watch movies of people killing our boys, but the second we're killing theirs everybody cheers.
I loved it but I expected it to be more focused on the Basterds, but the plot was great anyway. The only part I mildly didn't like was the fact they killed you know who. Then again the whole movie is fiction so it shouldn't matter.

To most the movie did not present itself this way. For intellectuals sure, they realize that what was going on wasn't meant to offend Jews.
However to most, the film portrayed Jews as bloodthirsty savages with no reason to kill these nazis. The movie took the Holocaust out of the equation which ultimately led to a lack of depth as far as motive went.
No Jewish person in the movie wasn't bloodthirsty, sure the girl was justified but the others? Guess the director took a Mel Gibson film studies class...
How could someone who isn't anti-Semitic portray Jews as mimicking atrocities that the nazis committed? The movie is just "too silly to be enjoyed, even as a joke." Honestly, you have to be extremely ignorant to enjoy the plot OR the hidden metaphors.
It's not his worst movie but it's not his best, in any case Christoph Waltz is to this movie as the Joker was to the Dark Knight, everything.
I fucking loved it, and people don't seem to like it because it doesn't have enough action. Which is very stupid to ask from a Tarantino film.
That's the complete opposite of what I thought, at times it felt like the action was kind of too much and I wish there were more conversation scenes and less people dying.
name one character that is not badass
[editline]11th December 2010[/editline]
just one
Perrier Lapadite's family. He himself is badass (especially when smoking the pipe), but his family is meh (all though they're women and are decently attractive so nvm that last statement).
Also, this or District 9 should have won Best Picture, not the fucking Hurt Locker.
I thought it was fantastic - my only two complaints were 1) that it could have used maybe 30-45 minutes more screen time of the Basterds, and 2) that it had a tiny bit more for Sammy L to narrate (probably just once or twice to accompany the extra Basterds time - but I'm still happy with what I got.
I was blown away with the casting - every character was (in my opinion) perfectly cast, especially Hans Landa. Since IB's release, Christoph Waltz has become one of my favorite actors and I hope to see him become a distinguished star in the future - he certainly deserves it for his performance as Landa.
Bonjourno.

"That's a bingo!!"
I thought it was pretty bland. Usually I come out of a Tarantino film realizing something about human physiology, but instead I felt like this one had nothin but frills with 30 minutes of dialogue inbetween.
Oh and requesting a gif of Goebbels banging his bitch.

They were more cultured but to me they were equally pretty dickish. It's just that the Nazi's were dickish in more of a Bond villain sort of way.
I liked how they pwned the nazi, they all died in a fire. BUHAHA

I couldn't feel my butt after the movie ended. Too much time spent sitting on the same spot.
Totally worth it.

it was a great experience, that's for sure.
i liked it but half of the movie was like in german
More like 10 minutes or something and that's not even a big deal

Only about 30% of the dialog is in English apparently.

I had hardly any complaints about this movie. It was well-written, the scenes with Waltz were intense, and while there wasn't much action, what was in the film was satisfying enough.
The film was great. But doesn't really compare to Pulp Fiction/Reservoir Dogs.
Loved it. One of my favourite movies

That is so mind numbingly stupid said.
Also, check out what's going on in Israel. The Jews aren't exactly being very nice.
