Why the fuck don't you two just Skype? [editline]17th March 2011[/editline] I can't be arsed reading through 6 pages
She sent me pics.
I bet he got them from google.
As awesome as it might be to find a girl online, you're better off talking to someone face-to-face. You may be able to open up easier online, but meeting someone in person is better. You never know if someone line might be a he or whatnot.
Fuck bitches, play DA2.
My youngest brother has a similar issue with an American girl. He's seen photos of her and chatted with her on Skype, but most of the family isn't convinced it's legit (self included). She keeps telling him that she'll come on over to England but, almost two years now and neither hide nor hair of this girl.

I don't see why people are being so cynical about an internet relationship moving into real life. Half way across the world is a bit strange, but I've picked up girls on the internet before, although they're usually friends of friends rather than random people on message boards. I mean, my Mom and Dad met over the internet, as strange as it may seem, and they worked out fine and still have a healthy marriage. Don't judge a book by it's cover, and do whatever you think is right. Quite frankly, Facepunch isn't really the place to go for relationship advice.
I wouldn't say that, there's more girls in the SA thread for Mass Effect than any other game-related thread I've read. It's like a 70-30 split.
Exactly.. Mass Effect..
No offence but i honestly think that no one cares.
This thread is reaching the quality of that "white stuff from penis" thread and many other golden threads! Either way, good luck OP! Even though i really think you should go outside and meet people
I can imagine her whispering to herself "I'm on the internet you muppets"
She looks pretty old. No offence to OP.
Based on little things I've picked up on, I think she's probably really hot in real life
Whoops.
So I kinda like this girl. We talk almost everyday, but we usually only message each other like once a day or every couple of days. Yes, we talk on the BioWare Social Network. I actually have no idea what she looks like, but for some reason, I don't really seem to care. We've been talking for a few weeks now and, despite not know what she looks like, I fear I may have a crush on her. This is so weird and I don't know what to do, I really like talking to her, and I think she likes talking to me too. She doesn't know I like her. I don't know if she feels the same way about me. I think it's way too soon to say anything about this too her, so I'm not going to yet, not until I know for sure that I like her or she gives me a hint that she likes me too or atleast until we've exchanged pics or Facebooks. I feel like she's becoming a little distant though, ever since DA2 was released she has been only messaging me like once or twice a day (or every couple of days) instead of like 5 times a day, she says it's because she's been busy playing Dragon Age II and she's about to start her third playthrough. Plus there's the whole she lives half way across the world and so we don't have a very large window of time we can talk for. Based on little things I've picked up on, I think she's probably really hot in real life, but to be honest, I'm not sure I really care if she is or not, she has a great personality and I really enjoy talking to her. The five minutes a day I spend reading the new messages she sends me are the highlight of my day. Long-story short, is this completely strange or not? Also, please give me some advice.
Congratulations for making your first social connection to the opposite sex. I think you got your a bit too high.

People are people, no matter how you end up meeting them. Me and a friend of mine have both made friends over online games, and honestly its more like having a friend who moved to another state rather than some random creep you have an affinity towards. GL OP, all i gotta say is don't get creepy :v:
I don't know, she looks ok to me. I mean if she's cool and likes gaming, I can live without her having a pornstar body.
Alistair and Scott Pilgrim, huh? She has good taste.

I don't want to go behind your back.

Oh god this made my day. Thank you samusaran253 I haven't laughed so hard in weeks!
This happened to me when I was 10 years old (almost 11). her name was Ellen, and we talked on STEAM many weeks. But later I discovered that she was a 19 year old man who lived in Germany :raise: I felt so virtual raped

Also, please give me some advice.
Even if she is a girl and not some guy trying to pass by a girl, it will only end badly. Eventually you'll tell her, and she'll tell you that she likes you too, shit will get more serious and you'll start using webcam and mic to talk, you'll deceive yourself thinking you love this girl and she'll deceive herself thinking the same. The truth is you cannot love someone over the internet, this will lead you both to want to meet in real life (if you live close by, there might be a chance for you). With most situations like this one though, the distance is too great for a serious relationship, if you manage to meet 4 things can happen: 1. Neither of you actually feels anything for the other. 2. You realize you don't feel the way you thought you did about her. 3. She realizes it instead of you. 4. You both get along, but the distance is too great, she'll get scared (or you will) and things will get awkward, and you'll most likely end up not talking to one another anymore. So my advice is: better to keep a friend for life than to love for a day. Just tell her you enjoy talking to her and keep doing so, she'll make your day better and you'll make hers, don't let it get further than friendship, as soon as you do that there will be problems, she'll be in a mood some days and make your day feel like shit instead of heaven and you'll both get hurt.
It's cool, OP. I'll admit I have an internet crush too. Just depends on how you roll with it. If you're dumb about it, it most likely won't end well. Don't go into it with ridiculous expectations. It's the internet.
Pascal I told you no is no
