The Ysalamiri are actually still canon but only as sculptures in Thrawn's office, given the direction they've gone with Thrawn it can likely be assumed they're extinct in canon now and its just a set of ancient sculptures he's collected.

Dave (I believe) said the sculptures were a reference to their design but they're not Ysalamiri. It is like how those Sentry Droids look like Dark Troopers but are not Dark Troopers.
Wookieepedia lists them as canon because the concept art labelled the statues as Ysalamiri.

Good point, still it is nice to see them at least referenced even though they didn't make much sense, it all ties into the character after all.

Yeah, Filoni understood that. That is why there is a scene that is framed to male it look like they're standing on his shoulders.
