Prologue
G'day. I have never created a megathread before so pardon the thread if it isn't perfect. I'm no rocket scientist either so again, pardon the thread if it's missing any vital details. I'm making this thread not so I can discuss about missiles but Facepunch as a whole, and for all you rocket experts. [sp]Ha, "experts".[/sp] Feedback on how well I made the megathread will be appreciated. (Tell me where I went wrong and what I did right)
Introduction
A missile can be something simple, like kicking a ball, to something sophisticated like a GPS-guided rocket. Any form of projectile can be percieved as a missile, depending on the jargon you use. There are four different missile catagories: Surface-to-Surface, Surface-to-Air, Air-to-Air and Anti-Ship. Each type of missile having a specific role.
The first missile created was in Nazi Germany during World War 2, the V1, V2, Cruise Missile (See Fig. 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3) and various other missiles created by the Nazis and later copied by the Americans, Russians and Chinese (After capturing the Nazi scientists) which lead up to the infamous nuclear bombing of Hiroshima.

Fig. 1.1 (V1 'Flying Bomb')
Created during the Luftwaffe, the V1 was designed for long-range bombings but only few could actually reach their targets.

Fig. 1.2 (V2 'Aggregat-4')
Another missile made for the Luftwaffe to hit London, this missile proved more reliable than the Flying Bomb and did the most damage during the Terror Bombing.

Fig 1.3 (Cruise Missile)
Schematics from the V1 and V2 combined created the Cruise Missile. Russia, USA and Britain were all working on their own version of the Cruise Missile and this is why we have different variants.
Epilogue
From these three (and other missiles not listed) we come to modern missile technology like the FGM-148 Javelin and the FIM-92 Stinger.
P.S: The thread rules are the same as the forum rules so I don't need to list any, you know the drill.
Ah here's one of my favorites. Primarily because these are specifically meant for anti-ship warfare.
This shaped-charged liquid propelled missile is capable of ranging vessels at 130km (~70nm)
SILKWORM SY-2
The SY-series were developed from the Soviet P-15 Termit. They were used on small missile boats with limited electronics. The Chinese encountered difficulties making the missile compatible with the more complex systems of larger warships. This could have resulted in premature launches or detonations when the electronics were placed on full power. In response, the HY-series was designed for warships and to replace the SY-series.
The SY-series was initially produced concurrently with the HY-series to arm missile boats and to provide an inexpensive alternative for export.
Operational History
The Silkworm was developed at the Institute of Mechanics under Qian Xuesen, a Chinese scientist who did his graduate studies at MIT and Caltech, before being deported by the United States in 1955 after being suspected of Communist ties. A book about this scientist's life was written by Iris Chang, entitled Thread of the Silkworm.
The Silkworm gained fame in the 1980s when it was used by both sides in the Iran–Iraq War; both countries were supplied by China. During 1987, Iran launched a number of Silkworm missiles from the Faw Peninsula vicinity striking the Liberian-flagged tanker Sungari and US flagged tanker Sea Isle City in October 1987[8] and 5 other missiles struck areas in Kuwait earlier in the year. In October 1987, Kuwait's Sea Island off shore oil terminal was hit by an Iranian Silkworm which was observed to have originated from the Faw peninsula. The attack prompted Kuwait to deploy a Hawk missile battery on Failaka Island to protect the terminal.[9] In December 1987, another Iranian Silkworm was fired at the terminal, but it struck a decoy barge instead.[10] Prior to these attacks the missile's range was thought to be less than 80 kilometres (49.7 mi), but these attacks proved that the range exceeded 100 kilometres (62.1 mi) with Kuwaiti military observers seeing that the missiles originated from the area and tracking them on radar along with US satellite imagery of the launch sites.[11]
Here are the other variants of anti-vessel missiles. Whether it's land launched or launched airborne.

This information was pulled from the wiki. However, I have a vast knowledge of theater ballistic missiles, weapons of mass destruction, and naval based missiles.
Worst megathread ever. :saddowns:
I want to build a mini V1...
V1 and V2 are so sexy.
I work on missiles. Or with. They aren't very cooperative.
