Be prepared to spend up to $10,000 during the course of your instruction. I spent anywhere from $200-$700 per day, depending on what we did. You may end up spending as much as $20,000 depending on what you're being instructed on and what your instructor is payed hourly. I flew a Cessna-152 which was the smallest plane available. It was $88 an hour. A Cessna-172 was $120 an hour. The low wings were averaging $200 an hour. The biggest were sometimes $500 an hour. [editline]07:15PM[/editline] Oh an my instructor was payed $35 an hour. Being a flying instructor is a hot job. Commercial pilots now are being extorted by airlines. Thanks capitalist America

Once they get hired by an airline don't expect to see them anymore.
This just in, you're not a woman. Alt troll account of some male user. :frog:
Glorified bus driver. Most of the flying is actually done by computer now anyway.

Commercial pilots make about 30k a year now so you would make about 3 times that being an instructor. He opened a "farming warehouse" in California and he used his hours to gain certification as a cargo pilot so he could fly his goods to places himself. He claims that he grows mushrooms and tomatoes or something in there but I'm pretty sure it's weed. [editline]11:43AM[/editline]
Glorified bus driver. The pilots are just there to keep watch and do a few small things that are needed

Why don't you stop being a pussy and go and do somthing without saying 'Omg i'm a women it'll make it 2x harder :O' Seriously get out there and stop moaning about being a women, it never stopped people like Susan Travers and she did a lot more with having the 'curse' of being a women.

There is absolutely no pressure on women trying to become pilots. There is no discrimination at all. You're probably too dumb to get a pilots license anyway. You have to be at least semi-intelligent and you must devote long hours to studying. Nobody is going to baby you.
Please don't be a pilot. It will be 9/11 all over again!
Go for it, it's a fantastic thing to have

Seriously, theres no such thing as discrimination if you're a strong person.
I've wanted a pilots license, those cessnas aren't even that pricy. I just need to win in that lottery.

One of the dumbest people I've ever met graduated from Army flight school with me. Granted, he had the lowest grade you could possibly achieve and still graduate- and he cheated through most of the course, but he passed the final with a seventy percent. If he'd missed one more question he'd have been T-spaced; prolly into 11B or 88M. Infantry or a truck driver. Two most dangerous jobs in the Army. Anybody studying for their FAA flight exam, do yourself a favor: don't just memorize the answers. Anybody can memorize the answers and pass the test, but if you don't understand the material it'll come back to bite you. Aviation is incredibly dangerous. Know your shit.
Do it because you want to, not only to stand up for women.

Know your shit.
Yeah you could cheat maybe. Aviation isn't THAT dangerous. The only real dangers are structural failure and spins. If you're flying a small/medium, decent, consumer aircraft, you can usually glide that bitch fairly easily if any tech malfunctions occur. Jumbo jets, unfortunately, usually have horrible glide ratios. Spins can kick your ass if you panic. And of course if part of the structure falls off, you're fucked. But that's why they have 100-hour maintenance.
get the license, then fucking ram the plane into the ground. then have sex with me :)

Memorizing answers doesn't help any if you don't know how to read weather charts, predict performance, do weight and balance checks, or effectively communicate. The leading cause of accidents in general aviation is human error.
Obviously you are not a resident of Texas.
You're right, you probably shouldn't be a pilot. Pilots need to be able to take action and think quickly. They must possess a strong will, and strong nerves. If you're seriously letting something as stupidly irrelevant as somebody else's opinion keep you grounded, then you have no business sitting in a cockpit. There are no excuses allowed in flight. Shoulder responsibility and go for what you want or give up. Those are your only options in this. I'm not trying to be mean. Pilots are the final authority when they're in the air. They are responsible for anything that happens to them and to their aircraft. Flying is not for timid people. If you're not absolutely sure that you have what it takes to get behind the controls of an airplane then don't do it. That's the first thing my instructors taught me. There can be no doubt.

Becoming a pilot takes a lot of confidence and if you come on a forum moaning about discrimination and about how you have it so hard you aint got much confidence in your self.

Stereotypes don't change unless people challenge them.
I know a guy who's 16 and has already clocked up a few hours flight time. It's cost him alot, but its well worth it.
Most people probably aren't taking you seriously because it costs a fucking shitload of money to fly. Read this; http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3232838
OP, if you want to learn to fly, then do it. Don't waste time letting other people tell you you shouldn't because you're a woman or whatever. Both of the instructors I've flown with are women and both have done a good job. If you're not sure how you'd go, then take a couple of instructional flights to see how you are behind the stick.
Ground control to major Tom, Take your protein pills and put your helmet on Get ready for that exciting journey
Ground control to Major Tom Your circuits' dead There's something wrong Can you hear me Major Tom Can you hear me Major Tom
I say go for it. I want to obtain pilot license myself and it is my dream to buy a warbird from WWII
YES. Always wanted to be a pilot. Go for it, man. Reach for the skies. Literally.
I confirm this.
I do too.
I want to be a pilot too, to bad my eyes are stupid and short-sighted.
