Wouldn't a signed contract that specifically states my MOS as "Tactical Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Operator" prevent them from doing that, though?
Nope. Does give you tenure but not a guarantee.
I like how suddenly everyone's going "oh god, you're a hero Linelor" when they usually act like disrespectful fucks towards our troops. I salute you my friend.
I like how suddenly everyone's going "oh god, you're a hero Linelor" when they usually act like disrespectful fucks towards our troops.
Don't get your hopes up too much is the best thing I can tell you. At any second they can decide they don't need you where you are and make you do something completely different.
Pretty true, when I was going to Fort Knox for BCT, I was going in a group at the Airport with a few guys going there for AIT that were going to train as M1 Abrams Operators but had to reclass as STRYKER Operators (Still good though). My MOS 52D I kept, but my unit asked if I wanted a secondary [25B] so I took it, but I'm waiting for the school dates now which is driving me insane.

He got 4 years in training as a dentist and then he was about to start his last 2 years to get certified and the Navy basically said "Hey, you have to be a computer programmer now."

That, was, fucking, awesome! Thank you for the best read of today. :D And I'm sorry about your friends that died. :\ You have my respect. :D *salutes*
Respect, sucks about your eye / friends. So your right eye is completely useless? or just lazy?
Respect, sucks about your eye / friends. So your right eye is completely useless? or just lazy?
Completely blind.
I hate to bump, but I just want to say that was an amazing story and probably one of the best thing I've seen on GD for quite some time now, glad to see you're still alive. I salute you brave sir.
A lot didn't wear the desert camo. It's kind of pointless most of the time as we never really got attacked. I guess it wasn't the smartest thing to do but we didn't do it a lot and those were actually more comfortable than the other ones we had as they were a bit lighter. For the most part we were not combat units so it wasn't a major priority. Of course I can't remember that picture so I'm wondering if that was actually in Iraq. Half my pictures were taken by my and the other half are friend's so I'm not sure if that's from us or from something that happened back home. I know the other ones are though.
My Brother was a marine and said his battalion got stuck with woodland MOPP suits. Utter bullshit man. Apparently whoever it was that was in charge of supplying the Marines with their gear, had not been informed that the Marines were invading a desert country haha
One question for ya, Linelor. If you could go back in time and make the choice to join the military again, knowing full well what you would suffer... Would you do it all again?
Fun fact: Caldwell is a variation of my last name, Calder.
One question for ya, Linelor. If you could go back in time and make the choice to join the military again, knowing full well what you would suffer... Would you do it all again?
Well, I don't know. I am glad that I joined and that I have that experience now, but of course I'm not too glad about the wounds. The way I see it, if it wasn't me in the truck then it would have been someone else, and they might not have survived it. So, basically, yes. I'd do it again.
Violence is never the answer :frown:
Violence is never the answer :frown:
Sometimes, it is, in some situations. A man is holding your family hostage. You have a button that you can push that will cause all his organs to become mush inside his body, or he'll rape and kill everyone he's holding hostage. Do you push the button?

Then with his skin I'll create a type of hitting object with the brain and beat him some more.
Mad respect to you
Did you ever find out what happened to the guy who was driving that tank?
Excellent read. Keep our country safe!

Whoa, he finally got an RU. Totally earned it. I think Lineor should have gotten an RU the minute it was being considered.

It's weird how different war sounds like when you hear about it just from one person. Salutes.
