The Tale of Camp Caldwell - For those of you still sending me PMs

I find it hard to sympatise with people who've gotten themselves into their shit.
Kudos on not being dead though.
Linelor, is there anything you wish that you did different during your service?
And does anyone you know suffering from PTSD?
Also, congratulations on RU.
I laughed hard at the picture of the Abrams in the ditch.
I Salute you Linelor, We miss you at anime downtown
sorry to hear about your friends and your eye bro, my cousin is in Iraq at this very moment driving a challenger 2. One of her friends was killed in the black watch massacre a while back and she was really torn up about that.
I really wanna say thanks for serving out there. I hate it when people bash soldiers because they are fighting in a supposedly unjust war. They don't comprehend that that isn't the soldiers choice and they are just out there doing their job

I was thinking of doing ROTC for college. I have a couple of questions:
did you ever set up fortifications?
do you get anything special at college for ROTC (other than being an automatic officer when you come out)?
Hey, Linelor. I have a question: Do you still 'see' in 3D? I hear even after one eye is put out, the brain knows how to simulate and assume depth.
Guys, stop asking about his eyes. Read the thread. He already answered the question like multiple times.
Nowhere has he answered a question such as mine. If he did, link me because I'd like to know the answer.
what did/does it feel like to find some of your best friends dead?

What do you fucking think?
I just lost me depth perception, just takes some getting used to. I can still see in 3 dimensions.
I have drove an Abrams before, but never in combat, only as training or when we're trying to fix them/get them unstuck.
I did get medals, including a purple heart and a bronze star, but I'm not going into how I got that.

Dude a bronze star? You need to fucking tell us! Unless it's something really deep, if so then I can fuck right off.

He says he probably doesn't want to say.
What a great reading.
I don't know what to say, I'm kind of neutral to the Iraq war because i live in an unrelated country, i don't support it, but, heck, bravery is bravery anywhere.
My deepest condolences for your friends, i couldn't imagine what it is to lose one in a fight, or in a coward explosive attack, like you did.
Thanks for sharing.
Best of luck!.
Your picture is indeed a very small camel spider.

I didn't know bugs got that big. Also, great job serving our country, it means a lot.
FUCKING HEEBIE JEEBIES
you are a good person
Though I don't agree with the war, I think you're a brave and respectable man for serving.
I wouldnt mind joining the army, not for the fighting but for the experience and the memories.
Man that sucks what happened, sorry about the guys in the truck with you, i probably missed what you said, but did your best friend survive? Hope he did , as i said i think i missed a bit :/
What more can I say? You are the single most admirable person on facepunch. I'm glad garry read this thread and gave you respected user.
One question: is the government taking care of you well enough? My grandfather was a WWII vet, and they denied him a lot of the long term care he deserved.
I'm British. I'd just like to say thankyou for protecting not just USA but a large part of the world. You have greatly inspired me.

Doesn't every soldier?
Do you wear an eyepatch now? :o
Everyone asks me why I don't, and I'm rightly not sure myself. lol
You ought to wear an eyepatch just to intimidate members of the Navy.
