The DS Lite launched a little over a year after the original DS. Same applies to the 3DS. Nintendo has consistently made revisions of their handhelds, and seeing how poorly received the Switch's build quality is, I imagine a New Switch will follow soon enough.
Yes but the 3DS didn't have nearly the ammount of hardware problems as the switch does. Just because its happened before doesn't suddenly make it ok now.

I'm saying it'll be even more likely that a revision will follow soon and that's it might be better to wait for it than to be the original console.
Ah, Nintendo... Same company that releases handhelds with charging dock contacts, and then refuses to release an actual charging dock for that handheld until after they release a second-generation (3DS XL). Same company that has refused to offer power supplies for their products in Europe because they expect people to already own one.
Hey, at least they didn't doom their own handhelds by making shit decisions like Sony with their PSP (disc-based games) and especially PSVita (Memory Card disaster). Oh, the PSVita. Yes, I really want to pay 100+ eu additionally to get a 64 GB card. Thank you, Sony.
Same company that has lived off the same handful of titles for a decade because they can't come up with anything new. And now they've launched a new console with three new launch titles and a total lack of industry-standard software.
Sorry to burst your bubble but Nintendo has shown that they are capable of evolving themselves in specific directions. Splatoon has become a huge new IP for them. BOTW breaks with almost every tradition of the game series and gets and deserves its high ratings. Even Game Freak has evolved their Pokemon series for a good chunk with Sun and Moon. For other games like Mario (and BOTW) Nintendo goes back at what made the old games great and what the fans loved and expands on them. Also, do you really question Nintendo on relying on their big titles when Microsoft and Sony do the same? Microsoft has been hanging on Halo series since the first game. Halo 5 was pushed to no ends to make the Xbox One sell. Sony? Guess what, another Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank and Last of Us game. Oh and Crash Bandicoot is back. Nintendo's competition really can't come up with something new, can they? I own a PS4 but currently I'm more than happy with my Switch. I love the aspect of its portability and TV function. Nintendo has moved the industry more forward than Sony and Microsoft who rely on big hardware. Remember the DS and its touchscreen? It kind of paved the way for touchscreen games, seen on smartphones now. Remember the Wii and its motion controls? One year later it was "copied" by Microsoft with the Kinect and a year afterwards by Sony with Playstation Move. The streaming ability of the Wii U? What did Sony announce for their PS4? Oh yeah, streaming on the PS Vita. Don't get me wrong. I use Windows 10, have a Vita, PS4, a Wii U and Switch. But what I'm trying to say here is that Microsoft and Sony, Nintendo's competition, has their own set of issues and properties when it comes to their products and games. The PS4, its Pro version and the Xbox One all had launch issues as well or just general issues. They all share diverse policies and strategies but most of the time I see Nintendo getting the most shit because, as usual, they do their own thing instead of doing everything similar like Sony and Microsoft. And this is what gets on people's nerves as they want their games to be on other systems as well so Nintendo just needs to die, etc., etc.
Same company that has refused to offer power supplies for their products in Europe because they expect people to already own one.
Isn't there some law that is supposed to cut down on e-waste and Nintendo got a tax break by not including the charger? I'm legitimately asking, this is the first I've heard of this.
