While I don't agree with everything Thatcher did, the country was in state of collapse and lurching into socialism when the Tories came to power in 1979. Can you imagine the unions holding the country to ransom like they were able to before the 80s? Or getting broadband from the one state owned phone company? Or taking a flight with a state owned airline? The fact is that most of the businesses that were owned by the state have gone of to become massively successful in the private sector, and not to mention the benefits of competition (There was one phone company for many years) to consumer. The privatisation of the railways was a disaster of course, but that was 5 years after Thatcher left office that it was begun.

On the subject of the next prime minister, I can see there being a hung parliament in the next election, because of the large majority that Labour has. The Lib Dems will then get to decide who forms a government.

and if you are, why the sarcasm? You can't blame people due to the fact that the Media concentrate soley on 3 parties in particular. They'll always pay attention to the parties with the most interesting policies, which happens to be Labour, Liberal Democrats and Conservatives at this point.
Everyone's fed up of Brown so it'll most definitely be Cameron.

I think labour should stay in but with a new leader...i dont think conservatives should get in.
David Cameron will win and we will be under a Conservative government. I'm basing this assumption on opinion polls and the general direction we're heading in.
