To be fair though... What exactly do you find frustrating in Gimp? It's just an advanced program that gives you more control over what you are doing compared to other free drawing software.

Gimp doesn't suck, but I'd still rather not use it.

I just really, really hate the interface. I admit there's a point where it becomes personal preference though.
I just think it's icky.
That aside, there are applications such as mypaint (which I used on my N900) and Krita that are better for beginners, because they can start practicing actual digital techniques faster than someone starting with gimp (as they will learn the interface faster)
