The first American colonies were four hundred years ago. It took four hundred years for some shacks and tents to turn into Virginia. Even three hundred years later most everything was a bunch of shacks and mud as we expanded westward. Shit, the West was still fucking Wild up until the late 20's. Parts of it still are. Africa is progressing faster than we did, by like tenfold. It's going South to North, and it won't take as long for them as it did for us.

We did the same thing for Mexico too once we got on our feet. Mexico and the US were tight back then.
