I remember people predicting the hate the game would get just because it got popular. To me, it seemed the game got popular because it is unique, creepy, and has a interesting back story you can investigate in the game.

It's not that super scary it's mostly tense with additional funhouse tier jumps that you laugh off right after. I don't really understand people who claim they're afraid of the dark after it like do you have animatronic animals in your house wait don't answer I don't want to know why if you do

You've either not played this game at all or you haven't been paying any attention while playing it, eitherway you're just grasping at straws to dislike something just because it's popular. I'm not that surprised, it's pretty typical of a lot of facepunch users to ignore something up until the point it becomes popular and then some idiots come out of their cave and start bashing the thing.
