I feel like they could cut out some of the characters, though. Some of them seem too similar.

The gorilla and the hammer guy are similar because they're both tanky melee guys for different teams. Each team has the same archetypes but with different details. Sniper who can travel fast horizontally vs archer who can climb walls Hammer bro with mobile directional shield vs damn dirty ape with a stationary bubble shield Healer who heals in bursts vs healer who heals continuously Engineer with one powerful turret vs engineer with multiple weaker turrets Soldier who trades mobility for firepower and defence vs soldier who trades defence for firepower and mobility Ambush character who focuses on stealth for surprise attacks vs ambush character who focuses on speed for surprise attacks
You can play anyone on either team.
Well that's dumb. What's the point in making it out to be two teams going against each other in the preview gameplay and the cinematic trailer if you can just be anyone?
Well that's dumb.
You can play anyone on either team.
So it's basically Team Fortress meets DotA.
"You're a looooooong way from France, boy."
So it's basically Team Fortress meets DotA.
Zenyatta reminds me of a moba character the most. Everyone else, character wise, besides Reaper and Zenyatta are uninteresting to me.
I was really hoping for someone to remake the cinematic trailer in SFM with the TF2 characters.
Honestly it's more Disney CGI than anime. [editline]9th November 2014[/editline] Butt enhance. I wonder if it'll get any shit or praise JUST because of women characters? You all know it's gonna happen soon :v:
I want to believe it's subtle reference to this But that would be way too random and subtle.
When I first saw the title I was hoping for a Half-Life 2 themed TF2 trailer with Combine soldiers. Instead I got inflatable asses and weird disney characters.

Can't really compare Medic's crossbow and medigun Minisentries vs sentries I'd say all soldiers in tf2 rely on mobility Ambassador spy vs knife oriented spy. Valve pretty much covered all the possible variations throughout the updates. Do note that I'm not saying this is a straight copy. Except the name, fucking Combine.
Much better than brink, but I dunno if you can ever beat the monster of multiplayer gameplay that is TF2.
It'd be great if they did more than take TF2s classes and split them by subclass. Hell, would be better if they just used the "subclass" system that tf2 uses rather than overloading players with a hoard of same-y classes that inherently harder to distinguish because save for the bigger dudes they have 90% the same silhouette. To make my point a bit more obvious, I took both of the game's group photos and applied motion blur to both. it's not super fair because they're not in the same pose/spread out but I think its good for now.
Holy shit, makes me really realize how great the color composition for TF2 is. Like, for TF2 you get red, brown, beige, black and white. For Overwatch you get the fucking rainbow.

Also I want to say I agree with you that it had a great color composition in vanilla, but after they released christmas content and paintbuckets I almost feel the color composition is now worse than what Overwatch has now.

The clothes might change but the stance, the look and most importantly the base color don't. You're never so far away from each individual class that a glance can't tell you immediately what they are, even with beards and shit.
