I remember when the rating you got the most would show up next to your username. I don't think I'd have a star anymore with this thread. The weather has cleared up a bit so we're headed outside for a bit.
Here's the script
He loves the run outside. Once we get some weather during the day that isn't rain or a hurricane I'll get out and record him with the high speed camera and put it on Youtube instead of in a GIF, it's a pain to get those things down to reasonable size. Everyone have a moment of silence for that rock.

Anyway, nice Emu
There's a grass field for him to run on too but I lead him down to the gravel so he can swallow some rocks to help with his digestion, this is something they naturally do and the rocks grind up the food for him after he eats it. He doesn't need them as much right now because his feed isn't very coarse, but as an adult he'll need it to grind up the feed pellets.
Make sure you keep tabs on him when he's free ranging or else we might have another emu war on our hands.
rrr's parents pass and so he inherits their lands but a jealous younger sibling wants the lands for himself and does not want to wait for rrr's time to be over. he kills rapter in cold blood to rule over his lands and his animals, except the young emu who escapes, only to come back a man-emu and avenge his father years later. with an emu army of course
It's odd, isn't it? We get more attached to our pets than we do a good number of friends and family members. I think it's because as long as we don't raise a hand to them, they're completely nonjudgmental.
Yeah that is odd. I usually only think of it as, we pity them because they're not as capable as us, they're delicate little creatures.

Does it work for opera or is my browser working properly?
Oh, oops. I guess Overv's one is the right one.
I had to add 'http://facepunch.com/*' to the User Settings>Included Pages for the other one to work.
Oh, oops. I guess Overv's one is the right one.
Aweomse, that works now. Thanks man
For me it says [undefined] under everyone's avatar and I can't get up the ratings menu. Dang you opera!
How can it be so cute? What sorcery is this?
Hi my name's Gerry and I like to make lots of noise at night by throwing a tantrum and jumping against the sides of my cage. So much noise in fact, I woke up the Tegu. The Tegu was hibernating. [editline]18th March 2012[/editline] Oh yeah, he's mad that I put that cardboard up now...
A Tegu..? Oh god I think we might be twins separated at birth, we're so much alike. Here's my Aura. [t]http://i.imgur.com/NwIMu.jpg[/t] (the Bearded Dragon's name is Maiya :3)
A little late to the conversation but personally I've always wanted to own an Armadillo Lizard: [img_thumb]http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-DSLK7OfZFM0/TaJbVVH5mJI/AAAAAAAADSw/aKuaWdf2qxQ/s1600/3-armadillo_girdled_lizard.jpg[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-YkDPguwfPKE/TaJbU2pRoLI/AAAAAAAADSo/nMJ5tRpBLms/s1600/dragon.jpg[/img_thumb] I'm a palaeontologist and this sentence hurts me.
I own one..
I own one.. Or... Used to. She died two days ago in my arms. Poor Amy...
Sorry for your loss. :(
Do you guys think I could manage owning a tegu in an apartment?
For me it says [undefined] under everyone's avatar and I can't get up the ratings menu. Dang you opera!
Yea, overv said it didn't work on opera, because he couldn't figure out why not. [editline]26th March 2012[/editline]
Do you guys think I could manage owning a tegu in an apartment?
Depends on the size. (Tegu and apartment)
Yea, overv said it didn't work on opera, because he couldn't figure out why not.
We opera users are kind of used to javascripts not working.
Do you guys think I could manage owning a tegu in an apartment?
Yeah, as long as you potty-train them. Also, don't forget to cover every crack and crevice in the house. [editline]26th March 2012[/editline]
Yea, overv said it didn't work on opera, because he couldn't figure out why not. [editline]26th March 2012[/editline] Depends on the size. (Tegu and apartment)
It doesn't really depend on size lol If he can live in there, more than likely the tegu can too.
Do you guys think I could manage owning a tegu in an apartment?
Just Tegu proof the bedroom and keep it in there. Tegu proofing is as follows: Nothing that can be crawled under. Nothing that can be climbed on or into. Nothing that can be pushed over. And no wires to become entangled in. All of these present no danger to the Tegu unless it manages to make something fall on itself, but it's not fun to come home and find your bedroom has been literally destroyed. As for waste management, I feed my Tegu once a week, then put her in the bathtub for a warm bath and it just goes down the drain, fresh Tegu stool is very loose and washes away easily in the tub, the bath also has the extra effect of keeping their skin moist when they go to shed. God forbid you don't follow through the day after feeding though, the smell WILL kill you if it shits on the carpet. Some people litter trained their Tegus, but I can't advise on how to do that, probably just catching them in the act and tossing them into the litter box. As for bedding, mine just sleeps in a cardboard box with a towel to climb under though she usually stuffs it in the doorway and uses it as a door, I have an electric heating pad under the box to keep the floor warm too. Immediately outside the sleeping box is another one with two holes cut in the top and the heat and UV lamps set over the holes, I leave them off most of the time and she'll just come out and get me when she wants to lay under them. Oh and some Gerrypics: This one is from last Tuesday (The 20th): And today:
tossing them into the litter box.
I have no idea why but i lol'ed really hard at that Also the pictures are awesome, he has got beautiful dancers legs
Just Tegu proof the bedroom and keep it in there. Tegu proofing is as follows: Nothing that can be crawled under.
Why can't it crawl under things?

He looks quite a bit bigger in the second picture. Just going by the figures on the wikipedia page, they're about 12cm tall when they hatch and they take around 5-6 months to grow to full size, which can be up to 2m tall. Holy shit, that's more than a cm a day. You must be able to see him growing before your eyes.
Why can't it crawl under things?
Because Tegus and reptiles in general are incredibly strong. Kind of falls into the "coming home to find the room destroyed" category.
How much has he grown in those 6 days? He looks quite a bit bigger in the second picture. Congrats, you've convinced me to get a Tegu :v: I'll post pics in a few months when I've moved in.
