There's a Dinosaur hatching in my bedroom - Live Emu hatching

Friendliest little thing ever. Loves to be pet too.
I'll get some pictures of it tomorrow when I have better lighting, I don't want to spook it with a camera flash at night.
The other egg is very unhappy though, I finally got it to settle down but it did nothing but cry for awhile, still no pip in the shell yet but I'll keep trying to get it to do so till I can't stand it anymore and break it free. I think what I'll do in that case is just expose the head and see if it will do the rest on it's own.
Did anyone record the hatching?
should have done a timelapse.
emus are good birds 8.5/10

In height, they are the biggest native bird of Australia.
Having pets that big sounds awesome yet a hassle to raise. OP you should keep a thread for updates on their progress if you have time.

They're just gonna be pets. I ordered the eggs from Kalaya Emu Estates in Kansas and they were shipped to my door, took 3 days for em to get here.
But I spent the last 50 days tending to the eggs, making sure the temperature and humidity was right in the incubator and turning them every 2 hours 6 am till 10 PM every day, occasionally waking up to turn them at night too.
It's... it's a monster!

It just loves to have it's back rubbed.

Barely even a day old and it's enjoying 5 star spas for free.
This is so adorable I am puking rainbows.
My raging love of birds isn't helping.
Awww, ain't little emus cute?
Also, related to emus, when I went to America we (me and the family) were driving through Utah, and we saw this emu farm, which apparently they do have in Utah.
Name one Feather and the other Beak, :v:
name one Smith and the other Wesson
how long are you gonna keep it?
do you have a big pen for when it gets.. big?

or perhaps you already have big emus :S
otherwise where would the eggs come from?
That Dino must not like what we have done with the world.
That pollution.

Ok, update on Egg B.
Decided to open the shell and assist, it's not breech, the head was tucked along the belly and the chick was upside down which is why it couldn't pip. There is some bleeding but I'm not sure if it's active bleeding or just a pool that accumulated.
Either way the chick is very very weak and I'm not sure it will make it. I don't know if I waited too long or if I should have waited longer.

Ok, it's out and resting. The navel was still connected to the membrane and bled a bit however only some of the blood vessels in the membrane still had blood in them, the rest were all brown.
I applied quick stop to the navel and am checking it regularly to see if the bleeding has stopped.
The yolk was fully absorbed and aside from the blood vessel at the navel it's fully closed.
Some of the membrane was stuck to the shell, I'm guessing this was the source of all the problems.
call it GAY_WEED_DAD_69
oh my sweet merciful fuck
that is the most adorable thing I have ever seen
How intelligent are emus, anyway?
Looking online didn't really give any conclusive information.
IIRC, you have to have special fences/gates to keep emus locked inside... They've got a bad tendency to target rusty fences with their claws/beaks.
Call it Orville
ORVILLE THE DESTROYER
Has he imprinted on you as his mother like many baby animals do? That's adorable.
Yes, but it's the male Emu that incubates the eggs and protects the young, it's the same with Cassowarys too.
In fact, it's pretty funny the way it works, the female will mate with one male, lay the eggs and the male will sit on them, then she'll go off and mate with another male and come back to the same nest and lay more eggs, so the first male ends up incubating both his and another Emu's offspring.
