Really can't stand this guy's videos anymore. Used to think they were alright, but the novelty has gone for me.
Why sandals bro
they're comfortable as fuck, that's why and no socks
they're comfortable as fuck, that's why and no socks
Didn't you hear the news? You're supposed to sacrifice comfort for fashion to appease the high lords
I'm not even defending any style or fashion or anything. I'm just laughing/sick of the attitudes of the high and mighty that some of you are espousing without the self awareness to realize what that even looks like or means. Good for you europeans who have a "Objectively" better fashion sense than us poor north american fags, I honestly just don't see how this will affect my life as a business person wearing a suit, or as a street walking wearing jeans and my leather jacket. I'm just not capable of passing the same level of judgement as you guys are I guess and I can't help but feel that it's not a bad thing I can't do that as easily as you.
i have no idea what is going on in this thread but being dressed well does have an impact of how other people see you. it's the same thing as being ugly/pretty. and you aren't always in a suit (which should be well chosen and fitted aswell anyway)
tbh i dont understand why some people wear combat boots
I wear merrel boots daily. They're incredibly comfortable and do what I need them to do. I swear though, if you mention offhandedly that you wear boots every day, regardless of where you live or what you do for a living, or what boots they are, there isn't a soul in the world who doesn't instantly paint you as some sort of social parriah who wears red-laced doc martens.
Didn't you hear the news? You're supposed to sacrifice comfort for fashion to appease the high lords
Can't I just do some human sacrifices instead?
Of all the things that a debate has come out of on facepunch, I have to say that this is the least likely topic.
Of all the things that a debate has come out of on facepunch, I have to say that this is the least likely topic.
Evidently you haven't accidentally ended up in FULS. Those guys are fucking terrifying.
I still pay attention to FULS for ideas - I think that some of the stuff they choose to wear looks pretty nice and some criticisms are fair. Like anything else, even though there's some pretentiousness you can still take what you want or feel you need from the thread and move on. And just because there's some sourness in that thread and some sourness with people who embrace fashion, you shouldn't become what you hate and judge people who put effort into what they wear. As long as people are comfortable with what they're wearing and it doesn't become offensive or judgmental, people should let it be.
Do you know who the real fashionable people are? The ones who don't feel superior to others over what they wear
citation needed
Would you rather hang out with somebody who's a dick or somebody who isn't? There is a nice way of bringing your opinion to others and then there is the other way that makes you look like a pretentious snob
tbh more judgmental people are much more interesting to hang out with because you kind of challenge each other and it makes you improve i want to be judged and so do they. because if you're confident in yourself then you're confident in being judged based on how people perceive you and clothes are a big part of that when somebody says "your cargo pants and sandals look like shit" they're not saying YOU'RE shit, they're encouraging you to improve. sure the phrasing isn't the nicest but that's how things work
fashion for idiots: 1. cargo shorts, boot cut jeans, and sweatpants (in public) are hitler 2. graphic tees do not make your fedora pop. neither should exist 3. keeping your clothes fitted is 95% of the battle there
I wear boot cuts since I wear biker boots, should I just hang a portrait of good ol' Adolf or what
instead of people just scoffing at you and thinking you're human filth for not having all the expendable income and superior fashion sense they have
so why not take that as a challenge then instead of whining about it
Would you rather hang out with somebody who's a dick or somebody who isn't? There is a nice way of bringing your opinion to others and then there is the other way that makes you look like a pretentious snob
who will actually say to someone's face that their outfit look like shit outside of an online fashion thread? is this really a thing that happens? none of your friends are going to say that to you unless you already talk about fashion with each other. i think there's some weird assumption here that people who talk about fashion are only capable of that, like they're so completely blind to any kind of social cue that they'll just walk up to complete strangers and call them ugly. even here i've never seen someone criticize someone else's clothes in a completely unrelated context. go find an excuse to post a picture of you wearing cargo shorts and a graphic t-shirt in a gaming thread and nobody will bring it up, and the ones who do will probably get banned. i sure know i wouldn't. because, as has already been made very clear, that would be completely unnecessary and stupid.
so why not take that as a challenge then instead of whining about it
because not everyone's hobby is fashion
one of them is legitimate criticism while the other one is just whining about something they don't get or understand though kinda like the difference between giving a proper music review and some dadrocker saying "all modern music sucks"! the people who are more into music make fun of the dadrockers, which is justified. it's the same thing here
Saying that something is bad with no real reason other than "I don't like it" is not legitimate criticism. Telling people that dressing like most other people means you automatically have a boring personality or are just lazy is not legitimate criticism. Legitimate criticism doesn't involve labeling people or taking jabs at what they wear, just like criticism in art doesn't involve making fun of the artist's skill. If you actually want people to listen to you, then don't do any of that. All that does is scare people away and accomplishes nothing. And no, it's never justified to make fun of someone over something that petty. It just makes you look like an ass and you won't be taken seriously.
it's like if someone is listening to top 40 and some /mu/ fuck comes in and starts saying "uhh yeah wow this is bad" and "pfft how about you listen to some real music like neutral milk hotel, pleb" when the person listening to the top 40 doesn't really even care much for music anyways. they aren't going to think "hmm maybe this guy is right maybe i DO have bad tastes" they're going to think "wow who does this asshole think he is?"
man, reading through the thread I want to believe some people just want to see other people wear nice clothing but it just comes off as complete pretentiousness and total insecurity of themselves
imagine being called insecure for dressing nice
imagine being called insecure for dressing nice
he wasn't saying that people are insecure for dressing nice, he was saying that people who berate others for how they dress are insecure.
he wasn't saying that people are insecure for dressing nice, he was saying that people who berate others for how they dress are insecure.
Yet no one cares on the past several pages when people have made fun of those who dress nice?
BOOTCUT JEANS AND VIDEO GAME T-SHIRTS ALL THE WAY FUCK FASHION L M A O 8))
Yet no one cares on the past several pages when people have made fun of those who dress nice?
if someone is making fun of those who dress nice then they're probably not very secure themselves
Okay, real talk. Is "Fashion" as you guys talk about it some sort of joke? Like vaporwave? 'Cuz it's starting to come off like that. [editline]26th October 2015[/editline] F A S H I O N I S T A
Since I started posting in FULS, I've been asked out twice, and today I was called "hip" by two of the cuter girls in my photojournalism class. None of those things have ever happened before. So there's been some improvement, and it's not just in the way I dress, but the way I carry myself as well. I'm more confident in myself because I present myself better. Yes, sometimes they're assholes, but I'm not going to complain if these are the results. Obviously they're doing something right.

It used to so so much worse though, for a good 3-4 months no one used the thread or posted fit pics because it was just so toxic. Someone doing fairly well clothing wise would just be absolutely demolished in the most asinine way, and it didn't achieve anything [editline]26th October 2015[/editline]
It goes both ways. You should just think about what you wear and what you think looks nice instead of bothering your head with what others think and/or are wearing. Sure you can discuss fashion and all that jazz, but it's usually done with people who care about it and when you mix in people who don't care, you get this thread
Which is why its so silly to get so involved and angsty, on both sides. When you get that involved in an argument and that defensive EVERYTHING becomes an attack which just feeds it more
Which is why its so silly to get so involved and angsty, on both sides.
If enough people are getting defensive then you might need to rethink how you're going about giving criticism.
fuls has been there since at least 2011 and in all that time it's almost always been the person asking for advice, not the people giving it, that got aggressive over nothing
Sweatpants and hoodie all the way.
I prefer cargo shorts, Family Guy t-shirt, and crocs
fuls has been there since at least 2011 and in all that time it's almost always been the person asking for advice, not the people giving it, that got aggressive over nothing
if some of the posts here are indicative of some of the posts there then i wouldn't quite say it was over nothing. maybe nothing to you but it clearly had an impact on them [editline]26th October 2015[/editline] however if they did come in asking for advice then they probably should expect criticism of some sort, they may just not be expecting the certain brand of passive aggressiveness that seems to follow such threads
Idunno about you guys, I just wear a wife beater and a jock strap every day.
