That [I]is[/I] what a high is. Anandamide stops the neuron's refractory period. THC represents Anandamide.

Usually whenever neurons rapidly fire in a similar nature, that causes your thoughts to race and each thought to spiral into another. Agonism of the cannabinoid receptors decreases the amount of GABA in your brain, which is the main cause of the high you get. THC has a complex mechanism of action, and the high we're so used to loving has many different roots in different receptor systems in the brian. Along with reducing GABA, CB1 agonism also causes the brain to release large amounts of acetylcholine, dopamine, and norepinephrine, which in turn causes the release of other transmitters, such as endorphins and glutamate. This is why chemicals like thujone (which is found in absinthe and garden sage) don't produce the same psychoactive effects. Thujone is purely a GABA receptor antagonist, which means that it can produce effects slightly similar to cannabis, but is markedly different. There's even some debate as to whether thujone is even psychoactive at all, meaning that the reduction in GABA from THC and other cannabinoids isn't the only component in creating the high.
On another note, this is why alcohol and weed usually don't mix well with most people. Alcohol being a GABA positive allosteric modulator (meaning it increases the concentration of GABA in the presynaptic cleft) can negate most of the effects, if not all, by reducing the amount of monoamine neurotransmitters (i.e. serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine) and glutamate being released, allowing the neuron to have a refractory period again.
