I don't see why stem cell research shouldn't be allowed. Also, how do you define murder?
How is this even similar to murder?
i think the swedish goverment should execute Johan Palm
(i hate that he got the same first name as me :bang: )
Something I do have against the whole stem cell thing is the issue that it could be taken too far.
By this I mean if you can re-grow limbs and other body parts with it, so maybe one day it'll be possible to clone humans using this technology. I can't help but feel that cloning is wrong in some many levels.

watch the movie 6:th day! hehe
Why do you always want to debate such played out topics?
If debating interests you why not pick a more obscure topic?
Example: A victim’s deliberate use of deadly force is a just response to repeated domestic violence.
Here you could argue more intriguing topics such as sanctity of live versus quality of life.
I'm sure everyone is sick and tired of the same old "huuur abortion!".

We already have the technology to clone humans. We aren't clone humans for ethnic reasons. No need to worry there.

Yes, I agree.

We're going to move on to less covered topics, we're just starting with a classic, as I said.
Boring and cliché topics.

See above :)
We'll do something better next.
Huge thanks to GunFox for the Unban/unlock. Let's go again shall we?
Do we really need a "debating" thread? After all, that's more or less the point of forums. You discuss things in threads made relevant to a specific topic.
Anyway, the anti stem cell arguments are flaky at best. Let's have a look, shall we?
think stem cell research is fine. It's banned for humans because of the negative uses, not to mention against religious beliefs, which we all know, America is one of the largest countries to base its actions, judgement, and laws on what is "moral", and this "morality", comes from comparing decisions to the Christian bible. Creating life in the christian religion is supposed to be let to God, not man. That's a big reason for it being banned on humans, imo.
What I mean by "negative uses", are the mas production of workers, soldiers, or just creating humans for a specified purpose, which is, not by religious morals, but by societal morals, wrong. If you've ever seen the movie The Island or The Sixth Day, you'll understand what I mean.
OK, first off the impression I'm getting is that you're just saying that it's because of religion they're banned, rather than you support them being banned because of religious beliefs. So we can leave that can of worms unopened.
Anyhow, the negative uses you're talking about are either cloning, which is a whole different issue, or designer babies, which is a whole different issue. Neither of these things have really much to do with stem cells, which primarily have therapeutic uses, like growing organs. So those arguments aren't terribly relevant; it's hard to see how one could go "too far" with stem cell use in humans.

Again, you're not likely to clone humans with stem cells; that's really quite a different process. Ok, so human cloning hasn't been achieved yet, but if you look at how they clone other animals, the process is to do with de nucleated eggs and tissue samples rather than stem cells.
I call for objections based on cloning to be ignored, unless someone can explain how allowing stem cell research and treatment on humans is the same as cloning.
Hey guys, all of your thoughts, actions, emotions and senses are the product of the motions of particles within your brain over which you have no control and your free will is an illusion.
Just FYI.

No. You ignore this comment as a product of the environment's influence on your mind.

Hah! You called it a fact.
No. You ignore this comment as a product of the environment's influence on your mind.
Right.
imo you should sue the particle in your brain instead of the conscious being since it's not really his fault because he has no free will.

That's stating the obvious- YOU DON'T REALLY MOVE YOUR ARM, MUSCLES DO IT FOR YOU! IT'S A CONSPIRACY!
Hah! You called it a fact.
Well in all likelihood it is a fact; I just wish other people would get it so I could cop off with the corporeal bodies driven by random particles or ("minds") that my random particles associate with both attractiveness and friendship.

what.
you mean ethics or ethical not ethnic.
also, why fear it? the worst possible outcome that I can see is severe unfairness and free labor. what you should really worry about is mind control. we have the technology to completely stop aggression via implants. ever read harrison bergeron?

That's like saying we don't have free will because we're essentially controlled by, strangely enough, our own will, which is a fallacy IMO. Our will can't be the prisoner of our will so to say, it's completely contradictory. If it were to be constrained it should be from an external entity.

So my sensory input and genetics have an illusion of choice? I never thought that my mind is what I see... I think you have to think that over again, it's not even compatible with your "illusion" philosophy.
