they really really want you to know that he's totally a "gamesman" by highlighting the resident evil shirt he has on
This is nothing more then bait. It's so intentionally uninformed, that people have no problem rushing in to correct them, thus generating clicks and views.
Do we just gonna ignore all the educational, simulation, sports, racing, puzzle solving, building games?
Generalizing all games as violent sounds just wrong to me.
Someone clearly just read the tl;dr and decided to reply.

All games with currently over 10k players on Steam. Count the amount of games with violence in them and you will find they are an overwhelming majority. Not saying this is a bad thing, but it is a fact.
Yeah but that's steam, what about consoles?
Yeah but that's steam, what about consoles?
probably not going to be less violent by any stretch.
There are entire genres and game types that are non violent but clearly the most common type of game is a game that utilizes violence in some way.
It's not a bad thing. It's just how it is.
Most art of note and merit is violent to be honest.
Gamergate is really when Cracked.com went to shit.
No it wasn't. You just didn't notice them going to shit until gamergate happened.
Cracked started experimenting with hamfisted political articles years before gamergate happened. Not video game articles, though. The hacks who wrote their video game articles didn't need to be political to drive people away. A lot of it was TV and comic books at first, because that's what the popular writers liked to write about. Once the clicks came in they got the green light to make "Well fuck you, commenters!" articles, attacking the comments section of past articles for not agreeing with the writer's opinion. Thing is, these political articles were vastly outnumbered by apolitical clickbait at the time, written by people who were either fired, disappeared, or started writing their own political garbage later on. Also, clicks don't matter to them anymore, as Cracked has been continuously losing traffic since 2011 and they've made absolutely no attempt to reverse this trend. Gamergate was a coincidence, not an opportunity.
