Exactly. It's relevant and common in today's society, so there's absolutely no reason to not teach it besides a couple of idiots feeling uncomfortable. Besides, didn't we all feel uncomfortable during 5th/6th grade health class?
I found it interesting, but some stuff was kinda eugh. Scaring is caring I guess.
I never said it was normal? I outright said "sure being gay isn't normal" (Doesn't mean there's anything wrong with it (there isn't) but most people aren't gay so it's not normal)
If being homosexual isn't normal, what is normal? You really just throw all straight people into a bucket and label them as "normal," everyone's unique in one way or another.
I agree. There is no place in school for teaching about sexual preference. Sexual preference is a decision much like religion for people to make.
I agree, honestly I don't give a fuck, just don't be open about it to me, fucking gross, I don't go around talking about how I love sticking my penis in a vagina nor do I go around hitting on and groping every chick I see, don't fucking do it to me and we'll be fine. This is the talk I had with my gay friend, he got the message luckily for me.

That's pretty much bigotry if you say you're conditionally okay with it. Here's one for you to think about, are you also like this around homosexual women? I'm guessing not.

They already talk about treating others as equals, just include sexual orientation.

I'm not saying all straight people are the same or normal, just that they're the majority in this particular case.
Uncommon because people don't like to flaunt it (or most people with any sort of self respect don't...) doesn't mean it's not normal. Normality isn't "the majority" it's normality.
I'm not entirely sure what you're trying to say, could you rephrase this differently, I'm not really getting this. Really digging Mass Debate so far, most people seem pretty civil (although I've been in like three threads).
Gay guys don't go around groping every guy they see. What the fuck is the matter with you?
Sure they do! Oh wait, that's not right is it.
no, sexuality isn't a choice. [editline]20th September 2011[/editline] genetics determine sexuality, not free will.
No, I choose who the fuck I am. I choose to be straight because being gay is bad for the world. If everyone is gay there would be no human race anymore And no I am not bigoted. I do not care about your sexual preference as long as you don't act abnormal for attention.

If you look at it another way, you could say that no-one is normal because everyone is individual, thus there is no "normal" to be defined.
Well just because there's a vast majority of people who are heterosexual doesn't mean they are the normal people. If you look at it another way, you could say that no-one is normal because everyone is individual, thus there is no "normal" to be defined.
so you're saying there's no such thing as normality? I'm inclined to agree with you, I should have put "the average" or something
I choose to be straight because being gay is bad for the world. If everyone is gay there would be no human race anymore And no I am not bigoted. I do not care about your sexual preference as long as you don't act abnormal for attention.
So not only do you think people "choose" to be gay for attention, but you "chose" to be straight? Sorry, I don't believe that for even one second.
Yes it is. No baby is born saying, "I like other men!" or "I like other women!" Sorry, everything you do in your life is a decision. I don't buy this "born this way" bullshit. What happened, was homosexuality used to be taboo, not accepted anywhere. Then, gay people saw this, wanted to change it, so started to say, "Oh, we were born this way!" to make it more widely accepted. It's like me saying I was born with an attraction to a particular hair color. It's a preference. I know a few gay people who say it is indeed a choice they made.
Yes clearly I chose to like women just like I chose to enjoy eating pizza.
Yes clearly I chose to like women just like I chose to enjoy eating pizza.
I thought the current belief was sexuality is like any preference, it's a combination of outside and biological influences.
I thought the current belief was sexuality is like any preference, it's a combination of outside and biological influences.
I'm confused as to your point.
I'm confused as to your point.
I made a worthless post because I misread Crispex's post.
That you like pizza and women because of biological and social dispositions.
The two really are not comparable.
That you like pizza and women because of biological and social dispositions. Maybe I'm confused, because I thought the lack of comma meant you were being sarcastic.
I was being sarcastic, and the fact that you picked up on it and responded in the way you did makes me somewhat more confused.
What happened, was homosexuality used to be taboo, not accepted anywhere.
Then why the fuck are there pots, mosaics, and statues made in ancient Greece of men having gay sex? No really, google that shit, it's true.
Yes it is. No baby is born saying, "I like other men!" or "I like other women!" Sorry, everything you do in your life is a decision. You are born one way or another, it isn't a choice. It's been proven that homosexuality comes from a gene and chemical imbalance. Also, it didn't used to be taboo everywhere, christianity/Catholicism/Muslims made it that way. You are being incredibly stupid. [editline]21st September 2011[/editline]
No, I choose who the fuck I am. I choose to be straight because being gay is bad for the world.
The two really are not comparable.
They're both preferences. I don't think non-heterosexuality is only caused by odd genes. My thoughts are that it's caused no differently than any other preference in the world.
I was being sarcastic, and the fact that you picked up on it and responded in the way you did makes me somewhat more confused.
I made a worthless post because I misread Crispex's post.

There have been plenty of gay men throughout history who you wouldn't have known were because they keep it hidden for fear of their life.
They're both preferences. I don't think non-heterosexuality is only caused by odd genes. I think it's totally normal and just like any other preference in the world.
You don't "prefer" having sex with men to having sex with women if you're gay, you're physically attracted to the same sex. Like I'm straight, I don't "prefer" the appearance of women to the appearance of men, it doesn't work like that.
Homosexuality should be taught in public schools in order to nullify discrimination. This is what my opinion really boils down to in this subject.
To anybody that says having a different sexuality is a choice: Do you think I fucking CHOSE to be asexual? Why the fuck would I choose to not gain any joy from either sex? If I had a fucking choice (hehehe), I'd choose to be bi because there's more choices for me, and more porn! [editline]20th September 2011[/editline] What would even be "taught" for homosexuality anyway? Some people like women, some like men, some like both. The end.
Keep it out of pre-school, elementary school, and Intermediate school. Same as you would keep anything sex related out of those grade ranges.
Sexual preference is involved in intermediate schools. You didn't learn about genetics in your Biology class?
You don't "prefer" having sex with men to having sex with women if you're gay, you're physically attracted to the same sex. Like I'm straight, I don't "prefer" the appearance of women to the appearance of men, it doesn't work like that.
I'm sure heterosexuals prefer looking at and having sex with the opposite gender more than they prefer having sex with the same gender. Otherwise they wouldn't be heterosexual.
I'm sure heterosexuals prefer looking at and having sex with the opposite gender more than they prefer having sex with the same gender. Otherwise they wouldn't be heterosexual.
Even if I go with your example, it still doesn't hold any water. Why would I prefer pizza? Because I naturally prefer the taste, and that taste makes it enjoyable to eat. Why would I prefer men/women? Because I'm naturally attracted to one, or both.
