I can use your comparison with any bodily distinction, like hair color. Why would I prefer a blond? Because I naturally prefer the color, so that makes them more enjoyable to look at or have sex with. Or anything aesthetic, like art. Why would I prefer Magritte? Because I'm naturally/socially inclined to like bowler hats and apples, which makes it more enjoyable to look at.

Even if prolonging slavery didn't mean more death and suffering for the slaves(which it did), freeing them is still the right thing to do if you have the ability to, even if their oppressors go to war with you. Big Dumb American said the same thing about immigration. Even if it means more hardships for us, we shouldn't let them suffer if we can prevent it.

Schools should be places where people are given information about their current society, their history, sciences, math, etc., so information about sexuality would go with that.

For one thing it's terrifying to feel left out, so when the gay minority of children begin to realise they don't like girls like the majority of their friends, they will feel isolated and maybe even like they've done something wrong. What's the harm in school teaching them that it's not bad or wrong, that they're as normal as everyone else? When I was about 13 I knew a guy who is gay. I didn't personally like the guy at all and if I didn't get taught about homosexuality in school or the media I'd probably ignorantly think all gay people were as annoying as he was. A good 10 regular customers at my cafe are homosexual as well as two staff. I'm fucking glad I was always taught at school to accept gay people because it would be such a chore to be uncomfortable around so many people.
