Including every single piece is one thing, excluding some of the biggest musical genres in the world is another. You don't even have anything on Pop/R&B and thats actually the most listened to genre in the world (shit you excluded electronic music, which is nearly as big and has been around since the late 50s). Anyways it'll probably won't matter anyways, you go to public school I guess? As long as you write HERP DURP ROCK N ROLL all over it, I'm sure you'll pass.
Your paper sucks.
Why do you even care

Pop/R&B hasn't evolved much in the past 20 years.
What could you possibly say?
Why is it that Bob Dylan's 2009 album gave him his first number 1 record in both th UK and US?
Why did Eminem's last album outsell both Encore and Relapse? It didn't get margainally better reviews.
Music is hype, you believe in it or you don't.
I personally don't care, if it's worthy I'll listen to it!!

so you'd exclude major topics from a year-long research paper because they conflict with your opinion, I wish you the best of luck with your academic endeavors.

Maybe he want's to stick to his strengths, rather than trying to explain something he doesn't understand. He understands rock and metal but maybe he doesn't understand how pop and electronica evolved.

Go on. Tell me the evolution of what you were trying to bring up.

Based on this comment and the good old "Why do people listen to metal" thread, I can safely say that this guy is a closeminded fuckwit who's convinced that people should only listen to Electronic because that's what he likes.
The dude wants help with one specific section, he seems to be writing in chronological order, he hasn't gotten to the major Electronic outbreak yet. Stop slandering people's work purely because the section he's currently on happens to be covering something not to your taste.

If you do this (and you should) then mention how they were probably the first really commercially successful group to prominently incorporate keyboards, and how that paved the way for further use of that instrument in psychedelic and prog-rock

actually I was more concerned that he left out pop and R&B considering the popularity of them. But of course I'M the narrow-minded fuckwit whos writing the research paper only on the genres I like.

Pop is far too difficult to go into detail for this kind of work, but he isn't going to miss it out.
Why are you obsessed with R&B?
Rhythm and Blues isn't what it used to be, it has changed into a form of Hip Hop, Soul and pop.

Because R&B is actually the most listened to musical genre in the world (yeahiknow). It would be silly to leave it out and where it came from. You can't ignore that kind of stuff when you're writing a research paper. It's not a minor topic or anything, regardless of opinion.

Why should you skip a major topic just because it's "too difficult"? Obviously a teacher wouldn't really take that as an excuse.

DId no one read this, it important to the evolution of music from the 50s to the 60s.

I'm trying to mention as many people like Muddy Waters are I can, but it's getting out of control now I have all these suggestions

I know, thats why you're writing your paper only on the genres you like. Lul who cares about pop, R&b, electronica, and all the other genres which are just as big or even bigger :downs:

You don't fucking get it do you?
I can't write about everything, one of these sections alone takes about 2 -3 weeks of writing. So I'm choosing to not write about the one I dislike most.
If you'd read the first part of the OP you'd understand why it's not in there, not get the fuck out of this thread and take your fail with you, you've been missing the point since you first posted.
Electronic music is nowhere near as important as you are suggesting either

I can't even be able to edit my posts without being quoted now

I'm focusing on what I'm good at

You don't do a year long research paper and then exclude major topics just because you "dislike" them or don't feel like doing them. Please tell me where you go to school? I'd love to go there and be able to write papers in any way I want, assuming you'll pass.
You're just mad your precious electronic music isn't in there, I see no reason to continue talking to you
You're just mad your precious electronic music isn't in there, I see no reason to continue talking to you
you've really been backed into a corner to come up with something so childish as that? Its basically "LOL U MAD?!". Good luck with that research paper brah, I've never known there were only 3 popular music genres in the 20th century :downs:
Wherever the hell you go to school, I wish I would have it as easy as you. You know, writing research papers in any fashion you like. If your teach is any decent he'd flunk you straight away for leaving so much out, but then again you probably go to public school.
I don't go a public school actually
And you're missing the whole point of this thread, read the title. Had you perhaps read the OP this would make more sense to you.
Deal with it
that's why I made the thread, I've changed it
that part has been pretty much cut out entirely and rewritten
rock was created by piano players by the way, guitar players just "translated" their style to their instrument.
[editline]24th January 2011[/editline]
update the OP with the current version
If you're referring to ragtime kind of playing , yeah I got you
I had to cover that kind of piano playing in my jazz section,
no I'm talking about blues piano just like "the fat man" which I linked to. It's not ragtime at all
I'll do something about that right now then
are you going to update the OP?
Once I've finished changing everything that needs to be changed, not like you to want to help me out right? :v:
you'd be better off writing about attack attack but if you're going to write about something you clearly know nothing about I best help so that you don't spread bullshit knowledge
I updated the OP with a different part that I finished, still working on making edits to the main body part
[editline]25th January 2011[/editline]
you'd be better off writing about attack attack but if you're going to write about something you clearly know nothing about I best help so that you don't spread bullshit knowledge
ouch, that was brutal
Adding Little Richard, Muddy Waters, and describing the black v white charts part now, making all the changes people suggested
"original rock" didn't start in the "first three years of the 60s". It was the 50s. Bo Diddley and Berry both played original rock. People like the beatles just changed the chord progressions so it wasn't all 1 4 and 5, and played with more amplification.
I know, thats why you're writing your paper only on the genres you like. Lul who cares about pop, R&b, electronica, and all the other genres which are just as big or even bigger :downs:
R&B hasn't evolved much in the last 20 years.
He could mention house music and grunge when concening the 90s but R&B isn't a complex evolutionary genre.
Janelle Monae is good because she is one of the few to incorporate art pop within her music.
I also think Hip Hop and Rock have a larger fanbase than R&B. If you know better give me examples of pioneers yet to be mentioned.
I wouldn't have thought electronica could go much into depth apart from mentioning an advance in technology... But that could be said for everything.
Music is part of the basis of this essay, but he doesn't have to go into depth with it.
There are FAR too many instances where pop has had an unusual occurance not to mention 40 pop charts across the globe...
