I managed to overstock my tropical tank without realizing it because I finally found loach friends for my kuhli.

(The weird numbers are also from fish dying but me not being able to replace them with identical fish.)

For the most part I have nowhere to move any of them either except that tank, which sucks.
I could move the shark to the cichlid tank but I don't really want to risk it and that wouldn't really make a huge difference.
Thanks for linking the picture, I checked out my aquarium through this and was pleasantly surprised at it being slightly under full stock

The featherfin catfish has been about ~10cm for a good 1.5 years or so now, it hasn't grown any larger than that so while the site warns that I shouldn't have it in a tank of my size (100L) it hasn't seemed to overgrow it.
I checked how much 5 ghost shrimp would add to it, they'd be only 2% so my stock level would go to 99% according to the site if I got a couple of shrimps which I'm interested in. Not any fishes anymore though, not until some of these start dying from old age.

I remember checking that out and guppies on it seem to be massive for the stock level consideration, not sure if thats due to it assuming they will breed or not but by adding 4 to my tank I can go from 75% to like 125% stock when I have 6 cories and a betta
Ok so I have what may be a problem.
There's fuzzy white stuff growing on my plants and ornaments. I thought it was algae that my snails and fish would eat but it turns out it's probably a fungus that's spreading because of excess food. Currently, my snails, plecos, and goldfish are fine and they don't have it growing on them, and the tank has been like this for a few weeks so they don't have fungal infections but I don't want to let it get to that stage.
Are my fish at risk? Can they eat this fungus(it looks like my snails have been cleaning it off some leaves)? What should I do to get rid of this?
I clean the filter every week(I leave the biowheel alone) and I do a 25-50% water change every week or 2 weeks depending on my free time. I found antifungal medication online but nobody in the tank has any infections and they seem as active as ever so I think it may be unnecessary since I believe it's just decomposing the excess food and nutrients in the aquarium

Post some pictures if you can. Fungus is pretty unusual.
If you have a quarantine tank, I'd move your critters to that and do a teardown. That's the surest way to deal with the situation.
If you don't have a QT set up, you can try manual removal of the fungus. I wouldn't necessarily recommend antifungals without knowing what they are or what they do. Regardless you've got some cleaning to do as it's only a matter of time before some other problem precipitates out from your excess food.
If it's fuzzy and white, 9/10 times it's a fungus.
They will be at risk, they will not eat it.
Treat the tank with an anti fungal medicine (I like Seachem's offering, Pimafix) and be careful that you go the full length of treatment. Quarantine your guys in a separate tank if you can, no need to treat them if they aren't showing signs.

Yes, but if a fish gets injured they will probably get infected. I lost three fish this way.

You're probably overfeeding them, and the uneaten food spoils and allows the fungus to grow. There's surprisingly little information online about the fuzzy white fungus on plants, but nobody on forums who told of the problem seemed to have infected fish, so I assume your fish are safe. I don't think they'll eat it though, so it won't go away on its own.
Some things that people reported having worked included reducing the amount of food given, improving lighting and adding aquarium salts to the tank. I'd recommend you taking a picture of the fungus and maybe going to an aquarium store and asking a professional about it, they're more likely to know exactly what it is and if it's harmful or not.
I might try ordering some catappa leaves. They use extracts from them to make anti-fungal and anti-bacterial medications for fish and these make good food for invertebrates.
I got a 3.5 gallon tank for breeding snails.
I regret it.
Bout to get back into the game. Convince me that putting an FX5 on a 55 gal is a terrible idea... It's gonna cycle the whole water volume 16 times per hour!!
How do you decide that you wanna get that one day? Just curious
Well when Petco's Dollar per Gallon sale is going on, I plan on getting a tank for some dwarf puffers.
Was breeding them food ahead of time but I didn't realize how much space the 3.5 gallon would take up.
I saw a .5 gallon tank today and I was really tempted to do something with it. Maybe some day.
I've actually converted my shrimp tank into a shrimp/snail tank while I cycle my girlfriend's pea puffer tank, only had to increase the feeding by a little bit and the snail population is already starting to boom. I have no experience with a pea puffer but I imagine that they will burn through snails pretty damn quick so I'm just preparing for the slaughter.
I know that a lot of snail breeding tanks are generally in conditions that would outright kill every other fish, if you are taking this route you could throw an extra ~$30 into the tank and easily transform it into a snail/shrimp community tank. Would be less of an eyesore and shrimp/snails are a wonderful combination to watch interact.
Can you take a picture of it? 3.5 gallons simply doesn't match the idea of "much space" in my head, it'd help to actually visually see it.
It's because it's on a small desk thing.
Man I cannot get over how damn adorable/funny my catfish are to watch.
The two peppered ones I got to replace the ones that died very early on stick together like glue. Anytime one of them goes off from the group the other will follow even during feeding. I suppose it makes sense given they are both alot smaller than the others but none of my others ever acted this way.
When I first got them they tried to school with my betta whenever he came down to the sand, he always acted so confused when they followed him.
Before getting this tank I really never considered just how, well, alive fish actually are. (ironic coming from someone whos never had a day go by without having some kind of pet)
After painting my 90 gallon years ago I don't think I'll ever go back. It looks so much cleaner. This 55 still needs another coat..

I have a problem...
I picked this boy up at $1 per gallon today

And the snail breeding tank

Alongside my 65 and 70 gallons in other rooms.
Help. MTS is so real.
Im lucky that the power grid in my room where I rent only has enough juice for my PC and fish tank so I can't fall to MTS.
[sp] Unless I stop using my computer and replace it with more tanks....[/sp]
I have my big tanks in the living room.
I don't need a couch right?
Just one more...
Im a recovering MTS sufferer but I'm currently relapsing.
Came home to an absurd amount of eggs today, theres easily over 200 of them, underside of my bettas leaf is just solid of them, not a spot without them and then another 4 groups in spots on the glass.
I can't manage that many babies...
Rinsing new ultra fine sand is a nightmare. Turned into stiff, tightly packed Sandy paste in the bucket that stuck to everything and refused to get out of the bucket. I've used Sandy substrates for years for both fresh and saltwater and never experienced such a pain in the ass rinsing out sand. Could've made sand castles with it.
That's exactly why I didn't really wash the sand I put in that tank I just got, just filled the tank up and I'm going to slowly filter out the floating mess as I cycle the tank.
The bubbles on the sand look really pretty.

I'm looking into maybe getting back into saltwater, but I'm in an apartment now and don't have the room I used to for a giant fishtank.
What do you think is the smallest size tank in which a cuddlefish or octopus could live happily in?
Never done cephalopods but I'd guess nothing under 90? I dunno though.

According to that link there's a species that can be held in a 30 gallon. You'll have to do some homework to find out what species you want.
Well I know why one of my Angels was acting weird earlier, he's got a cloudy eye.
:c
A swordtail was beating up on him. Something like 3x smaller than him.
Here's my "budget" 29 gallon setup, back when I got it I decided I wanted another decent sized tank since my 10 gallon was boring me that I had picked up used on a whim. Initially I had got a Petco tank on the sale but returned it since it had been sitting on a shelf for 4 years and later inspected how poorly it was sealed so I picked one up at a good LFS.
Then I bought the SunSun canister filter for $36 off amazon and I can't recommend these enough, they're incredible for the price. I splurged a little and went LED with the Finnex Fugeray which was right before everything started going LED and everyone was always talking shit about it. I think it was entirely setup and done with the stand, gravel, accessories, LED light, ect. with a nice quiet canister filter for around $250.
I struggled with losing up to multiple fish a month for years that I began to give up on it despite my water quality always testing literally perfect every time. I kept dialing back my light hours to fight gravel algae and tried everything from overfeeding, underfeeding, more water changes, less water changes, dosing it with various things and much more. Everything in the tank has pretty much died over time. I finally got tired of it and stopped adding anything to the tank after doubling my only group of like 6-7 cardinals then added some nerites instead of otocinclus.
That lasted what could have been a year and deaths in the tank finally tapered off, my most recent death was in early December however there was a 2-3 month gap before that. 2018 came along and I decided it was time to give it a last try before throwing almost everything away and sanitizing it all. I increased my light hours to 9 from 6, changed my substrate over to a medium sand more suitable for corys cats and added plants again. I ended up with a pretty large diatom bloom after that which was a little strange for a older tank. I'm really not entirely positive what was causing my problems, since my water always tested perfectly but I feel like the tank never cycled properly or the cycle failed somehow.
Either way everything has been good so far and I actually have plants growing instead of dying inside the tank. I've since added a bristlenose pleco and a betta and both have been doing great with the bristlenose being a dickhead who likes to dig up all my sand to get under the wood. The cardinals have been getting huge and will feed from the top of the tank very enthusiastically which I hadn't even seen until I added enough of them and all of the messy aggressive eating fish like platties weren't around anymore.
This tank has actually given me literal nightmares so it's really hard to be optimistic about it at times. If everything goes well hopefully I can add a school of cory cats and round off the tank into something more fun to watch since corys have always been my favorite.
