I have 5 rats. They're awesome. 1. Don't be super surprised if he dies, he looks a little young to be out on his own. If he makes the week, he'll probably be fine. 2. He's not domesticated, but after getting the OK from a vet (if you want to invest that) handle him as much as possible, get his used to you, give him a shitload of treats. He probably won't sit on your lap and purr any time soon, but at least he won't bite the shit out of you when you put your hand in the cage. 3.Shred some paper, these guys love to ne hidden in it. if he lives to get older, they develop an obsessive nest building instict, great fun to watch. 4. Interact with him (or her). Rats and mice have some real personalities, half the fun of having one is finding out what they like and don't like.
