NEW STAR WARS FILM ANNOUNCED STAR WARS EPISODE 7 http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-20146942 Facts: - Lucasarts acquired by Disney. - "It's now time for me to pass Star Wars on to a new generation of film-makers." - Lucas - Release date 2015 Sounds like Lucas didn't really have much choice but to say that statement. It's not like he'd have any fucking pull anyway. Wasn't he set to retire and had already stepped down? He also made very clear he didn't want to be part of Hollywood anymore in any shape. But even he refused to fuck the series in the butt anymore with another movie. This could either end up being a really good thing (Like Marvel) or really bad (Star Wars Prequels).
I feel like the Clone Wars (the 2 part thing not the series) was the best thing that came out of the prequels. The only problem is that I'll never be able to experience the nostalgia during the opening Greviace fight because I scratched the disk and now it just skips the part.

Well, shit.
one thing i like about rewatching the prequels (and even the tv show) is how much everyone treats jar jar like shit.
one thing i like about rewatching the prequels (and even the tv show) is how much everyone treats jar jar like shit.
Nobody likes Jar Jar.
i rewatched all three prequels very recently and honestly, ep1 was the better movie out of the three and i dont get the hate its gotten other than for jar jar binks it was much less IN-YOUR-FACE with the whole ANAKIN IS GOING TO BE DARTH VADER OMG crap and padme wasnt a dumbass who developed a liking to some whiny bodyguard with moral and political view issues though ep3 was bad it sort of made up for it for the greater action scenes of the prequels and palpatines overall acting and characteristic just kept drawing me into watching it (the scene where he hangs onto a ledge panicking for his life while still taking the time to laugh at a literally fallen yoda was prob one of the few brilliant things to come out of the prequels)
The truth is the prequels just aren't THAT bad. 1 is average. 2 is bad. 3 is good. 4 is great 5 is amazing 6 is great The only problem is the prequels didn't live to the fan's unfair expectations, it was never going to be as good as the original series, there's a reason it's so highly regarded. When you pull up a franchise like Bond and see how many missteps that has had and the fans don't totally loose their shit. Unless it's QoS, everybody's a complete dick when you mention that. I think some interesting stories have been told in the Star Wars universe. Like a few books dealing with the Skywalkers. Bobba Fett. The Force Unleashed was fun enough. Infact a lot of stories have been told more interesting than 1-3. Disney isn't a fucking idiot. It knows how to do fan service like no other company without making it fucking annoying. After thinking about it I'm looking forward to EP7. I'm mostly curious to see how they class it as a Star Wars movie story. All 6 so far have dealt with the story of Anakin. That was the whole plot arc. Is there a checklist you need for it to be a Star Wars film? Does it need C3-PO and R2-D2? A Skywalker? Jedi? Do we need a character from 6 to carry it over? Chewbacca? Han? Luke? Leia? Or should they be left alone? I'm just very curious how the fuck they make a decent sequel to a film that old. Glad they didn't remake it.
If you read some of the stories that takes place after EP6, there will be lots of Han, Luke, Leia, Chewwie, and the rest of the people. There will also be a bunch of stuff about Han and Leia's kids, and also about Mara Jade, hers and Luke's kids. So i could almost bet that there is material for a episode 10, 11, 12. But still, i don't think they can match the same quality of the 4, 5, 6 movies...

(please god nooooooooooooooo)
well it does actually this is why after 7-9 they are doing w/e they can which i hope is a shitload of EU spinoffs/adaptations
The truth is the prequels just aren't THAT bad. 1 is average. 2 is bad. 3 is good. 4 is great 5 is amazing 6 is great
1 is bad 2 is horrible 3 is still kind a bad 4 is great 5 is amazing 6 is good
I'm not too worried about it. Especially since Lucas doesn't have a major role.
well it does actually this is why after 7-9 they are doing w/e they can which i hope is a shitload of EU spinoffs/adaptations
Its been confirmed that 7-9 are original stories.
Its been confirmed that 7-9 are original stories.
where? unless that was confirmed since disney's buyout then it is just rumors if not a i knew i smelled EU retconning
http://ca.ign.com/articles/2012/10/31/star-wars-episode-vii-will-be-an-original-story That is my source.

I don't think the success of Star Wars was solely due to him (hence the prequels). [editline]31st October 2012[/editline] Also, I think they should remake 1, 2 and 3, instead of creating new stories. Do it right.

[editline]31st October 2012[/editline] and the E! article states the thrawn trilogy as canon when who the fuck knows what canon is
Its b Canon, or C, or something. They're in layers, like an ogre.
well it does actually this is why after 7-9 they are doing w/e they can which i hope is a shitload of EU spinoffs/adaptations
oh hell no no nooooooooooooooo oh Force help me the only good EU stuff is everything related to the Old Republic and the other pre-Ep1 stuff, everything that supposedly comes after RotJ is just heresy, part because it doesn't feel like Star Wars anymore. the only similarity is the Jedi, lightsabers, lasers and some ship designs, and maybe the occasional ancient super battle droid here and there. sure the Empire is still there but at like 2% of their former strength. all the important and iconic characters are either dead or fucked over. also, palpatine clones himself multiple times? WTF and the Yuuzhan Vong idea is just plain idiotic
Post-ROTJ EU is the most popular of the EU I don't believe, and I find it highly unlikely that any of the future movies will be based off EU stories, maybe have references or characters, but that is it. I believe it has been said that Lucas wrote the outline to the stories, and you know he isn't a big fan of the EU save a few characters, and Shadows of the Empire. Although if they were to adapt the Thrawn trilogy into a live action format, I wouldn't complain, as long as they did it right.
I'd like them to have a protagonist like Kyle Katarn. I always loved how he was basically a fusion of Han Solo and Luke.
Its b Canon, or C, or something. They're in layers, like an ogre.
right so movie canon overrides them so if disney makes some that goes against it is it is on a higher layer of canon. technically it would probably spawn other layers of canon as you could then write books based on the old EU canon or write books based on the new movie canon EITHER WAY DISNEY CAN DAMN WELL IGNORE THEY EU IF THEY SO PLEASE
The crazy idea would be to make a trilogy about Starkiller. That would set the movies between III and IV, and set light on Vader hunting down the last of the Jedi... Well on second thought, I'm kinda looking forward to that 'original' story...
heres a clip from ep 7! i was quite shocked when i heard disney bought LucasArts because the star wars movies were awsome and if disney makes the "next" star wars film (if its ever gonna happen) in disney style... i don't know what i will do. but is ep 7's story between 2 episodes or am i wrong?
oh hell no no nooooooooooooooo oh Force help me the only good EU stuff is everything related to the Old Republic and the other pre-Ep1 stuff, everything that supposedly comes after RotJ is just heresy, part because it doesn't feel like Star Wars anymore. the only similarity is the Jedi, lightsabers, lasers and some ship designs, and maybe the occasional ancient super battle droid here and there. sure the Empire is still there but at like 2% of their former strength. all the important and iconic characters are either dead or fucked over. also, palpatine clones himself multiple times? WTF and the Yuuzhan Vong idea is just plain idiotic
You win the stupidest post of the year award, the best EU stuff is post-Jedi (more specifically everything before the Yuuzhan Vong War, the stuff after that isn't as bad but lacks that finesse. Everything before YVW are pretty much Star Wars film-level material). Also, I want to see adaptations of The Jedi Academy Trilogy, with Kyp Durron and Han losing the Falcon again.
Here are some quotes from Lucas regarding Canon http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Canon#George_Lucas_and_Star_Wars_Canon He considers the EU its own 'separate world' Here is a list of EU elements in the films http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_C-canon_elements_in_the_films And fan elements in novels/movies http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_fanon_elements_in_continuity
Does this mean that episode 7 to 9 will be completely written from scratch now ???....so it could be anything ?
Does this mean that episode 7 to 9 will be completely written from scratch now ???....so it could be anything ?
They were never written in the first place.
Here's hoping it turns out like Pirates of The Caribbean did. (The first one, anyway).

But then George went and fucked all that up with a complete shitty execution.
If they ever remake the prequels or even with the new episodes they should watch Plinkett's reviews of those three movies so they know what people hated.
