Was anyone else disappointed that Luke's dark side is basically a 5 year old swinging a stick around?
Luke's dark side? Or do you mean anakin?
Luke's "dark side" (which I don't believe should even count as a dark side moment, as he still had the control over his actions. "Once you begin the dark path[or words to that effect], forever will it dominate your destiny" - Yoda.) was powerful enough to amputate Darth Vader, so I'd rethink your statement there.
The Gungans gave General Grievous blue balls. That's how.
They also had Cattleprods on a stick.
That Gungan general that zaps Jar Jar (How rude! bit) at the beginning of Episode Sacrificed himself to get point blank to zap him in the face.
There is a lot of Death in the Clone Wars that past 2 seasons. A lot. Some of it graphic.
What I really love about Star Wars is how passionate the fans can be.
You'll be talking about some guy in the background serving Jabba in his palace in Return of the Jedi and you could have a 2 hour conversation about him and his backstory with your friends.
Some call it nerdy, I call it entertaining.
It's a shared hobby, comparable to a religion. Just a bit more tame, and less dangerous.
I'm not sure if this was posted here, sorry if I'm late.

I really felt for General Grievous. If you read his backstory, you can see he has a completely justified reason for joining the dark side.
Yeah, but at the same time the way he acted in the movie just made him totally unlikeable.
Yeah, but at the same time the way he acted in the movie just made him totally unlikeable.
Plus the fact that he came out of nowhere and it was like why should I care about some coughing robot?

Well his first appearance was that Clone Wars cartoon back in '03, then the book Labyrinth of Evil, so if you watch the films in numerical order, then watch that show and read that book in between 2 and 3, it makes more sense.

True but... looking at just the films (as most people probably do) Grievous just spontaneously appears and is pretty pointless.
Although I did like the coughing (since I watched the cartoon before Ep3 came out) I still can't help but sit and wonder, to this day, as to why he was such a pussy. I mean in the clone wars he fucking killed jedi left and right (then again it was hinted at that he killed a jedi that you see walking around in 3)
Honestly, I think they should've scrapped Grievous in Episode III and just had Dooku get offed by Obi-Wan on Utapau. Grievous was cool in Clone Wars, but he was just a dork in Episode III.
Now think of this: Obi-Wan has a connection with Dooku in that Dooku taught Obi-Wan's master, Qui-Gon. Anakin is just some random punk that Dooku cut the arm off of. Therefore, I think Obi-Wan killing Dooku would've been much more fitting.

And it still provides a reason for Obi-Wan's absence, and Anakin's fall.
You know what would be awesome? A Criterion Collection of The Original Trilogy. To bad George wouldn't let it happen...

Hmm but it allows for a little bit of character development with Anakin and symbolism when the Emperor kills Windu. I think if they put Grievous in at all he shouldn't have been a pussy, they still coulda offed Dukey where they did and still not have had Grievous
It's not like Grievous went down like a sack of bricks after one kick, almost the entirety of Utapau was spent taking him down (you know, except for the Order 66 scene), with a big chase scene, and a pretty knock-down drag-out saber fight.
Grievous' Coughing in EP3 was because of the Imperfections of the technology.
But then the Cartoon came along at retconned that before the Movie was even in theatres with Mace force gripping him.
I couldn't have taken him down. Think about it, what did he do to try and kill Obi-Wan when he infiltrated their hideout? Lightsabers fucking spinning everywhere. My shit would've been cubes.
You gotta feel for the guy though, his appearance in the movies made him look like a complete dick. If you read his back story you sorta get some sympathy for the guy.
It was stupid stupid stupid to kill Maul. Him and Vader are the most recognizable Dark Side characters going. He should have escaped. We didn't need Dooku OR Grievous. Maul would have been fine. He'd be a great way to exploit obi-wans emotions and open a whole new story arc. Also it gives the villains more punch.
My main gripe with the whole prequels is how crowded and lousy the Dark Side is. Where are all these dick heads coming from? BadGuys'R'Us? Maul just needed to be fleshed out, built upon, and then Anakin robs Obi-Wan of killing him leaving tensions to rise more.
The above poster is correct, could've had an awesome sub-plot with Obi-Wan.
So guys, is Clone Wars worth checking out? Opinions on it? I basically want to learn everything about the "star wars universe" but don't know where to start. I know a shit load about the movies but that's as far as it goes.

Initially I disagreed (don't know why), but that actually makes really good sense. In the end it just reminded me of how much better the prequels could have been.

The original 2003 version is the shit, but avoid the new animated one like the plague.

The way they killed off Dooku just felt so half assed. I mean shit, this was the guy who set pretty much everything in motion, and he has a super late entry in Attack of the Clones and a super early departure in Revenge of the Sith.
I really don't understand that. Isn't the 2003 version animated? How do I know the difference between the two if they're both animated?
Animated as in computer generated. Avoid that shit.

Which is the computer generated one?! Your replies are ambiguous as fuck.
