The Rasterbation thread - I do it with Mom! Edition

These are hard to make look good. Makes me want to buy a huge printer.
I rasterbated a christmas tree last year instead of getting a tree.

I think I might do this one that DrChernobyl posted in LMAO pics.

Just hope it's big enough...
Edit: It's done! turned out alright, might have been better with a smaller dot size, and better taping.

Edit#2: Well, looks like garry removed img_thumb...
Our shop got in a solid ink printer so before we scrapped it I went ahead and used the last of the solid ink.

I went out and bought an Xacto knife and tape and spent the afternoon splicing all the pages together. It's a fucking art I tell you just to make it all line up.

[/anime_shame][/shit_that_isn't_rasterbation]
Edit: I really need to keep one of the next solid ink printers that come in. These things are awesome for rasterbating.
Edit: Hey Cosmic Duck, where did you find that HL2 poster? I can't find it anywhere that I can consider good because the resolution is so small or bloomed to fuck and what dot pitch did you use?

Excuse the question, but what's a solid ink printer? And what dot size did YOU use, looks like it's just scaled and not rasterbated at all.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solid_ink
The dot pitch isn't anything good (2, which explains why you can't actually see any dots) and that's totally my fault as I ran that as a test and ended up using the last of the ink.
Actually, wait you are right, this ISN'T a rasterbation. Lemme go snip that out.

I really like how this one came out

Might as well bump the thread with my rasterbation. Now there's no ink left in my printer :v:
I did a Deadmau5 and Skrillex one. I need to do a bunch movie posters this way.

Does anyone here have a really high-res picture of either Rise Against's logo or the Cover Art for The Sufferer And The Witness? I already have them in about 1600^2, but if anyone has anything bigger of either of them then it would help a lot.
Also, what is the ideal size of an image to rasterbate?

If you need to enlarge images, get Vector Magic. It works great for making anything big enough to rasterbate.

Only if it doesn't have a lot of detail. And even then it will still make it wonky and possibly really shitty looking. If it has a lot of detail then it will be shitty looking.
"What would you do then? Have a upscaled piece of shit on your wall?" I wouldn't have printed it at all.

As big as I could find it.
Do remember that it is a CD cover though so even if you got the original for it it wouldn't necessary be bigger than that anyways.

Thanks man, I'll probably post the results when I have replaced the colour cartridge in my printer, this takes up a lot of ink.

I still have nightmares about that cat

Anyway, I need a cool image to rasterbate. Not something so ridiculously nerdy and obscure that nobody will "get it", but I don't mind stuff a little in that direction.

I printed 25 pages while my printer told me the ink was low :smug:
What's a good dot size? I'm doing a 4x4 of this: http://www.jodrellbank.manchester.ac.uk/astronomy/nightsky/yuriearth.jpg

Why do people keep asking that? Just use the default, or put in an even smaller size for getting a looking-good-from-close-up image. And I don't think that image will make for a good rasterbation anyways, too detailed. But sure, go ahead.

Would it be possible to rasterbate this picture so that it still looks good?

[thumb]'s not working. And I'd say it'd be rather difficult, seeing how there are many small details - I'd rather try scaling it up and printing it as is.
what happens if you rasterbate a rasterbated picture

We need to go deeper.
Found this thread yesterday, seems very cool. Decided to have a go myself:

(It's the box art for the old PS2 game ICO, and yeah camera sucks)

Finally got a resemblance of a desk in my bedroom complete, really happy with it. Next on the agenda is wall shelves, artwork, and desk organizer goodies.
Here's some other pictures from my bedroom if you're wondering,

I need to migrate some of my DVD collection up to my room, it's bare up here (blame netflix and HTPC's with home network acess to over 600 films)

To go a bit off-topic, looks outright amazing, that room.
Is that a refrigerator next to your desk, though? I hated when I had mine in my bedroom, it was a bitch to get to sleep at the beginning.

i love the colour scheme you got going on there

Thanks man. As in hard to get to sleep because of caffine or noise?
