Maybe we shouldn't dwell on it as much as we do, every year, but we can't just forget about it.
It's weird because i was there a week before it happened.
The 9/11 memorial fountain thing is the size of one of the towers, right?

makes it look so empty, brings on some emotions
There are two, both sit in the original WTC 1 and 2 footprints. They're the largest Man-Made Waterfalls in the world. In the Summer they're constantly refilled to account for evaporation and in the Winter they're constantly heated to keep them from freezing.
The name of the memorial is 'Reflecting Loss'
On 9/11 I'm sure there were structural engineers who were dreaming at the sight of the attack. Besides them watching one of the largest and most deadly attacks in history, they were seeing one of the most well observed structural simulations ever created. The information that came out of 9/11 changed how biuldings were constructed and in odd cases, proved computer simulations wrong.
For me however, it was my dad's 51'st birthday.
By the way dad, happy 61st. :toot:
Some little bitch posted a Facebook status:

What should I say to this kid?
Post the graphic 9/11 pictures from page 2 of this thread on her wall or tag her in them.
Fuck I remember the day it happened, I was in Grade 5, and everyone was talking about how some tower was hit or something and I didn't really understand any of it at the time, or what had really happened. Took me a year or two to come full circle on the whole situation.
It's been a long 10 years though, very long. Lots of shit has happened. Doesn't feel like it was yesterday at all.

i find it sickening that guys like this, whos lives have been taken off the rails by 9/11 aren't even allowed to attend the memorial service.
You think that is creepy?
My roommate was talking about this the other night. HE says it partially explains how the government remotely controlled the planes to crash into the towers.
I decided it would be best to call him insane from a distance.
Only 12.3 more years until it's funny....
The whole strike was blown out of proportion in the media to incite extreme patriotism in the people to ready them for war.
Edit: Yeah, the holocaust was extremely horrible but do the jews have a yearly crying day for it?
Yom HaShoah?
The point it, it was a tragedy, and tragedies need to be remembered, and the people affected by it need to be honoured.
The new towers are uncreative and ugly, though the memorial is pretty good looking.

That joke won't be funny in 12.3 years, and it isn't funny now. And referencing South Park makes you look like a cretin.
[editline];[/editline]
Besides, there are plenty funny but in ill taste jokes about 11/9.
I'm going to use my 1500th post to post on this:
It is indeed sad that this has happen, also since it's been 10 years, people have been saying that this is going to happen again. That American's going to be under attack, again.
What has happen since 9/11:
Improved security measures on planes/borders
Conflict about the whole body scanner thing
Several films about why 9/11 was flawed
War in the Middle East
USA still low on money
USA still in the middle east
Racism on people from the Middle East
Yep, a lot happen.
I didn't know the World trade center was so beautiful! But I was about 3-4 and on my way to gymnastics when my mom and I where listening on the radio when it came a interruption and they that two airplanes had just crashed into the world trade center. I don't quite remember but that's what I've been told.
to a point, he's right, it's pretty depressing and it really shouldn't be so prevalent in australia as i hear it is
I dunno, I think we should care about what happens/has happened in other countries. It is depressing to think about though, I will give you that, but does that mean we should just forget about it?
And the bit about nuking arabs just makes him look like a stereotyping idiot.
I dunno, I think we should care about what happens/has happened in other countries.
If anything, we should care about what happens in our own countries first. Try asking a Brit what happened on 7/7 and watching their blank expression.

Brb, educating myself about what happened on 7/7.

Oh god, how did I never hear about this? I remember when 9/11 happened, Tvs were showing news about it all day. And there was no such coverage about the 7/7 bombings. I thought we were a British colony.
I don't see why this day is so important to everyone. What, is it because it happened to America? What about all the other disasters in the world that have killed hundreds or thousands of people? Why don't they have a day for themselves? What makes this day so special?
It was an unfortunate day, yes. But it's in the past and it's time to move on. People die everyday at the hands other people for no reason. Where are their days? Where are their memorials? There are not enough days in the year to celebrate all the tragedies in the world.
America will never get over it
It's hard to feel fucking patriotic after what we've done in response to that day.
