I think what adds insult to injury the government used to to deceive the general public and got them to accept going to war.
They didn't 'use' it to 'deceive' anyone into anything. The public never 'accepted' it they WANTED it. How does no one remember that? The day the towers fell people had a blood lust, they wanted the people responsible brought to justice no matter what.
The Government never proposed a war, Bush never got on TV and asked for support to do anything because we were already asking him to do something. We all asked for it. Within the minutes of the second plane hitting the South Tower the White House had to shut down it's phone network because of the amount of people calling to show their support for military action against the people responsible.
There were a dozen revenge killings after 9-11. There were mass demonstrations advocating armed response. All done by American citizens. Blue and white collar average Joe's who wanted something done.
I was in my 8th grade history class, ironically. We were told there was serious news and were led to another classroom with a TV. I, nor the rest of the class understood what was going on, just that people were talking panicked on the news and my teacher didn't move. This teacher was a mean, mean lady, and she looked afraid. That's when I knew something was terribly wrong. I was in the back of the class and couldn't see the TV well, but I could tell a big building was smoking. And then there was a black dot, and then an explosion. the silence in the room was deafening, only broken by the sound of my teacher sobbing.

never forget
I'm not american, I watched the atacks live on TV like most people all over the world did. And bellieve me when I say that our hearts where with the american people that day.

Something about that particular photographs makes me feel strange knowing what is about to happen and that their are still people alive in the top of the building whist it was falling down at that point...
9/11 wasn't even bad compared to other events that have happened, I dont get why its such a big deal, yeah people died may they rest in peace, i bet if this happened in a different country it would be lost in history in a couple years
I do agree with you.
and anyway I think the americans are a little bit hypocritical, the war that you started after this has killed over 100,000 civilians so far.
Good job! god bless those heroes.
It's hard to imagine that those chunks of red material once made up people..
I really hate all these goddamn conspiracy theorists who think this was an inside job by the government.
It was a almost 30 year old building, and a tall one at that - I don't think we've seen enough attacks of this magnitude to know what should have happened to the towers.
Whether or not it was an act of war, those people did not deserve to die and I will proudly give them a moment of silence on the 11th. Good people should not be wasted in an attack like this.
with all due respect, move the fuck on
with all due respect, move the fuck on
It makes me wonder why people constantly say this in regards to 9/11. People have moved on, now it's all about remembering and honoring those who died. It's natural fucking way humans cope with traumatic events. Hell, there's still a memorial each year for those who died in the Columbine shooting, same with the Virginia Tech massacre. So do you say this to try and be "eDgY"? Because you're pretty fucking ridiculous.

This.
It's even worse when compared to other disasters - it's like two people in a hospital comparing how they got there, one person fell down the stairs and the other got in a tramautic car crash - sure, one person is messed up worse than the other, but you still have to acknowledge the other guy was injured.

That's war. I'm not saying its a good thing, but it happens. 9/11 was outright murder.
I was in school and people were asking what the date was and stuff when I overheard a girl say this
"What is this 9/11 thing anyway?"

And this, my friends, is why people hate America.
I think the fact that it happened to a first world country as powerful as America is what affected people most, it's like the 7/7 London Bombings, if a car bomb goes off in the middle east no one notices, but when it happens in London it's all over the news for weeks

plus having a memorial each year isn't stopping the world dead in its tracks.

I live in the UK silly

Numbers aren't everything. 50,000 people may be dead in Rwanda, but the fact that someone had the gall to attack the US is a different ballgame.
I didn't see the live attacks on TV because I was 4 at the time, but my mother and big bro saw them.
They thought there was going to be some sort of WW3.
I don't really know what to say about it. Really sucks it happened.
with all due respect, move the fuck on
nobody moves on from this unless they were born too recently to have understood it when it happened. You're what, 21 now? You were in the 6th grade. I'm only a little older and I knew it was terrible back on the day, even though I didn't fully understand what was going on.
I have to wonder if people actually think it was just some buildings that got knocked over, and forget the thousands of people who died horrific and pointless deaths so that some asshat overseas could say "hey, fuck you guys"
I find this all sad because of the amount of deaths but what's sadder is what used to stand.. To see the different images from then to today is saddening to me and also the general fact of jumpers and the airplane all together
:smith:
I was in the 3rd grade when this happened and I remember looking out of my classroom, and seeing smoke. I learned that it was the smoke from the Pentagon.
My dad was working in an office right next to the Pentagon and he heard the airplane fly about 50 feet over the building.
I listened to the phone calls and I watched the videos. Made me shed a few manly tears. I know a lady that was working in one of the towers and left only 10 minutes before the first plane hit because she decided to leave work early. My heart goes out to all those who lost someone, those who were lost, and those who had to witness what happened that day.

but then we responded, and killed several thousand of their civilians.
That's what pisses me off the most, people used this attack to start a war that killed more civilians in Afghanistan and Iraq than everyone in the towers.

this thread isn't just about the people in those buildings. it's about everyone that died because of the event. whether directly or indirectly. remember them how you choose.
I really shouldn't be listening to these...
I was really young when it happened my dad has a middle eastern descent and had a job at NASA but he was fired due to the attacks.
A person from my school was on Flight 93, named Todd Beamer, and from what I hear he is the one who lead the passengers to take the plane back.
i wish i was actually able to see the towers, i was always too tall.
I'm surprised by the number of people I've taked to who consider 9/11 to be an attack on us, not an attack on just the US
