Back in the day. I know laval goes to Dalhousie, as do I.
Really, I mean, if you think you have what it's needed to organize a camping trip then just go ahead and do it, doesn't matter if you're not a mod, or if you're just 18 or whatever, as long as you are confident and do the necessary investigation for organizing the stuff, everything should go smoothly.
Back in the day. I know laval goes to Dalhousie, as do I.
Oh cool, I'm in Cape Breton. Someday we should all meet up.

Yep yep. We need to reincarnate the NS thread, and do another tally. I'm all up for some gathering.
I live in California, and there's tons of great camping locations on the coast and the mountains.
Depending on cost I could name some places.
The mountains are usually cheaper, the atmosphere's pretty nice, and the towns that are near by are usually pretty quiet and quaint.
But, if you want to see some real beauty, the coast is where it's at. Most of the sites are beautiful and the towns...well I personally love the coast and the towns and cities on the coast so I think they're better than the mountain cities. The downside with coastal camp sites is that they're REALLY expensive and the ones that are worth paying for usually sell their sites within days of them being available so trying to get even 2 sites that are next to each other that everyone could stay on would be damn near impossible.
Anyway, I've stayed at many of California's camping sites so if some of you have ideas or you see some places that you like post em here and I'll try to get back to you with my opinion.

I'll get on it eventually, just not tonight.

The OP ideally, needs to make a decision based hopefully off the area of the US that has the densest population of members, and/or cheapest or most lenient campsite owner, also;
North america's way too big for a single one, and the only people who seemed interested in actaully setting up camp were people in the north-west. The only other locations that seem able to have enough members to participate are the north and south east and north central states
Sort out the cost of transport between states for members outside the immediate vicinity.
Contact, or research campsites within state grounds, or just over the state line.
Get the best deal they can, price vs headcount vs travel cost.
Get a list of people who could definitely commute towards such a trip.
Most of this stuff would be need to be sorted out in a proper meetup thread, though some of the base work(some rides, general cost/mode of transport) could be sorted out before the thread.

(remember, by all means, camp with a bunch of members you hardly know simply for the sake of camping with people from a forum.)
It's just nice to camp with people you've spoken to at least once before.
Facepunch as a LOT of members, get to know them.
I though that FP meetups were to meet fellow facepunchers, then be able to have lasting freinds through facepunch.
Well that, and desecrating a square mile of forest.
Also, I wouldn't mind some more tips, general ideas, and stuff you did at the UK meetups from you if you would be so kind.
Updated OP to reflect situation. Currently, a North-West meet-up is the only one in planning because it's the only one with any driving force behind it. Many members further away have mentioned they would only drive up to 1-2 states, which means for the sparsely distanced people who have showed interest in the eastern united states, a meet-up is not currently possible.
Anyone have any objections to Sumap's cottage? It sounds fairly nice and he has supplies like stove fuel, etc.
If anyone will do this in northern Illinois or southern Wisconsin I might go.
i'll be there

Wisconsin reppin' here as well
Come on. Its fun. Freeze your ass off even though theres no snow. If there was snow at least it'd be fun to be cold. Right now its just bullshit
Well, we had a few guys from Florida.
I'm thinking about leading my own Florida camp-out.
Now, I'm 17, but I do hold myself well. I am mature, or so I've been told. How about anyone that lives in Florida, PM me with your city, and we can work out a campsite.
Kevin, might want to leave starting something up to someone who's 18 or older.
So when would this happen? I'm pretty sure I will have enough to get a train there, and more for food/camp fees/ect.

I've been talking to Sumap because he's offered up his cottage on the Gulf Islands (In-between Vancouver and Victoria). It would be in July/August if it happens this year. Mid/Late July probaly being ideal. Nothing is set in stone yet though. If we can find a more ideal Camping Site, perfect, but all the Provincial Parks are too restrictive on groups and vehicles.

Those are just normal parks in BC. You can find that everywhere.
If we're doing it on the island, it's going to be miserable unless it's around/during summer. Else it's just wet. I live near coldstream, actually, so this would be perfect for me, but ferry trips can be expensive from the mainland to the island.

Well, the camping trip will take a minimum of half a year to plan and gain interest anyways, current "ideal" plan is for this summer, during July/August.
The Provincial Parks would limit our number of vehicles, cost a lot of money, and separate us into different camp-sites. Sumap has a Cottage on the Gulf Islands and while you have to take a Ferry, you can take a vehicle if you are willing to spend, you can walk-on, and the campground charges around $25 for an extra vehicle while the ferry is only $40.
So for $15 more, you can drive to a private campground that already has supplies and such.
If anyone has suggestions for campsites that are a bit more lenient, will be considered but the cottage seems like a pretty good idea.
P.S: By ferry costing $40, I mean that's the charge for bringing on a vehicle. It's around $15 to walk-on.

And I'm doing it.

Woah, pretty short notice (3-4 months), but Good Luck! Hopefully everyone who wants to go will.
Who wants to get one revved up for Southwest?
Woah, pretty short notice (3-4 months), but Good Luck! Hopefully everyone who wants to go will.
If I need to, I can extend the date it takes place a month or two. But I wanted to do it while it was still somewhat cool. No one likes being SUPER HOT.
Who wants to get one revved up for Southwest?
Come take the train up to BC? :3
How much cash should I bring if I went?
How much cash should I bring if I went?
Depends what you want to do. $10.95 is walk-on price for Victoria to Galiano. $16 for walk-on from Vancouver to Galiano. It's $5 to ferry between islands but Sumap has a boat if you aren't taking a vehicle. I'm unsure if the main ferry goes directly to Galiano.
Vehicle Prices for Vancouver to Galiano is $61 each way. Victoria to Galiano is $35 each way.
Vehicle prices do not include walk-on.
Round-Trip Costs
Victoria (without vehicle): Approx $25 Victoria (with Vehicle): Approx $110
Vancouver (without vehicle): Approx $40 Vancouver (with Vehicle): Approx $170
There are some places to eat but that sort of ruins the point of camping. Bring supplies with you. If you are walking on, don't bring camp-fuel. It's illegal to transport camp fuel on the Ferries. Check the regulations
on the BC Ferries website (http://www.bcferries.com) to ensure you aren't breaking any provincial or federal laws. If you need camp-fuel, ask someone bringing their vehicle (I might bring mine, personally.) to bring
some fuel for you, or we can just share. I'll be sure to bring extra if I bring my vehicle because coleman tanks are fairly cheap (Around $15).
Come take the train up to BC? :3
I would totally be willing to do that, but I'm also of the opinion that if we were somewhere warmer and near a beach things would be more enjoyable :v:
Not to say that BC isn't gorgeous, we'd all enjoy ourselves anywhere really.

BC during the summer gets quite warm. We get up around 20-30 degrees in the summer (68-86F)
but the coastal breeze keeps it cool enough that you aren't dying.
The planned location is on a Gulf Island between Vancouver and Victoria. The cottage that Sumap has been offered is just up the road from a boat dock so it's quite near the water.
