I watch the new episodes of Regular show every Monday. Under-appreciated background pony? I'm not really sure how you can answer that, because pretty much any background pony that has done anything remotely appreciable has been given a name and recognized by the fandom/fanart. For example, Lyra's only claim to fame is that she sat funny in one scene. Now she's one of the most popular background ponies. I've taken a liking to Carrot Top and Derpy being roommates. There are a couple artists that like to depict them as such. There's also Ditzy(?) who is apparently Derpy's daughter. Not sure if she's actually in the show or a fan creation, but I love how people portray them together. Old pictures, but here they are for anyone who doesn't know who I'm talking about.
