But actually, I shot an email to this guy a few months ago about MLP; I figured since he has en entire episode devoted to how you shouldn't blow stuff off for seeming "gay" when you might actually like it...and how he carries the sentiment of "you can make a good *insert medium here* out of anything"...and how he despises Michael Bay's Transformer movies, given "Friendship is Magic" is currently the opposite of it in every way, including being golden instead of crap... Well, I thought it might be right up his alley, especially just in being able to say that a show about candy-colored ponies beats the living shit out of Bay's anthology of "army-porn that happens to include giant robots" movies...when at one time, the pony show was the one-trick pony, and the robot show was the one with a worthwhile complex narrative structure to it. He never sent an email in response, and it'd be impossible to know, but I'd like to think that maybe I managed to put him on to it =)

I want to believe that he's a secret fan, but I also wouldn't put it past him to have put that in just for trolling sake. He loves to troll his audience and stir up controversy. Just watch the rest of that video and anyone will see what I mean. The Escapist is now where Facepunch was a couple months back. It seems every big gaming forum I go to goes through the pony phases. Escapist is now at the point where it reaches maximum saturation, and there are now many, many threads posted on the forums about "I don't get why there's so many ponies everywhere," or, "Ponies are gay, please stop posting them," or, "This is getting out of hand." The fact that Escapist now featured an article on ponies on its [i]front page[/i] set off quite a few people, and now MovieBob has a nod to it in one of his videos. It's a really interesting story you have though. It'd be hilarious if you're one of the people who pushed him over the edge to watch it. Assuming he actually has.

I think Escapist is one of the last refuges of intelligent gaming related articles. Their weekly editorials are usually pretty interesting and offer different views of things you never thought about. If you want to talk about videos, Extra Credits is a fantastic series and I believe it should be mandatory watching for anyone who has an interest in games beyond just playing them. Extra Credits can sometimes be a little too optimistic, but they are nonetheless extremely insightful into the how video games work, and what makes a good game good. The other video series I watch on there is The Big Picture. It's a fun soapbox type thing where MovieBob usually talks about some issue in comic books, movies, or nerd culture.
