If this game was "Battlefield: Sci-Fi Edition" would people still like it? I honestly really doubt it.
It still wouldn't be Battlefront, but it'd at least be as fun as Battlefield. This is less of a game than Gone Home. Maybe it'll be half a game after you spend all $110 on it and wait until April.
EA/DICE found the perfect money grab by reviving the dead and rotting corpse of Battlefront, to coincide with the release of the new Star Wars movie. Doesn't even need to be good, so long as it has the words "Star Wars" people are going to buy it up day one, and will be more than happy to burn a second and larger hole in their wallet for the DLC that will follow shortly.
Seems I wasn't too far off with my initial impression of the game, thanks TB for confirming my suspicions.
im enjoying it alot , would i say its worth $60 hell no, but when theres a sale people should pick it up. Its nice to play a game that isnt super tryhard like CoD or CS:GO
Honestly it feels like baby's first shooter. If you can derive actual entertainment out of this once the nostalgia wears off then good for you, but for me the beta was a boring and shallow experience with excellent sound and visuals.
If this game was "Battlefield: Sci-Fi Edition" would people still like it? I honestly really doubt it.
It'd be better than this crap. There's no depth here, no teamwork, no reason to really try again except against different players to see if they're smart or dumb enough to change the outcome. Especially in Walker Assault. At least with a Battlefield set-up, you'd be able to not only more closely resemble the older Battlefront games, but have a traditional design that works. You'd just get the inevitable shitters that complain about being like Battlefield no matter what, but this is genuinely the worse solution they chose in the long-term. Here it's like they wanted the game to be out as fast as possible so the gameplay teams literally and completely chopped out every single thing that makes Battlefront, well, Battlefront, to sell a $60 casual 'i spawn i die' shooter with no real oomph or meat on its bones at all. It's actually more disgusting than Assassin's Creed Unity to see such a dedicated art team get their work used for such a fucking blatant cashgrab.
I'm personally really liking the game, but the season pass and balance are both pretty BS. Its less of a battlefront game and more like battlefield hardline in that its basically a battlefield spinoff, albeit a good one to me anyway.
If this game was "Battlefield: Sci-Fi Edition" would people still like it? I honestly really doubt it.
I thought that was the appeal of the first two was that it was like Battlefield but with Star Wars

This new Battlefront doesn't have those two elements that makes a team-based multiplayer game what it is. You can't compare the two.
:snip:
Does anybody know if the weapons in this are canon or were all used in the films? I know the movies used some famous weapons from the mid-20th century, but when you have a blaster with a full wooden body and a bolt it just looks silly.
I guess if you want a fun shooter and love Star Wars you can probably get past the shallowness. Otherwise, if you want something with a bit more depth and a LOT more content (and can get past the modern military shooter aspect) just buy BF4.
I honestly don't think the lack of content is the problem. The problem is the game is just fucking so boring. I played it for a few hours until I had to put the controller down because the game is just so bland, it has nothing going for it. Guns all feel exactly the same, and I never felt there was any "oh shit" moments while playing.
idc what everyone is saying, the game can get intense and fun as hell if you don't have your hopes up, and get the game for cheap on an proxy or Key site. I literally treat the game as an starwars 1943 minigame and its the most fun ive had in an dice game since BC2.

it's ok if you like the game but there's no way you can say it isn't stupidly overpriced

It literally has almost the same mechanics as 1943. All gadgets are cooldown based, the gunplay is simple with few but very different weapons that all have advantages or disadvantages, and infinite ammo for your weapons. also, way to get on your high horse basically saying "oh, you're not having fun because its bad" christ.
Or I could not buy it and not support them churning out garbage year after year
Again, for 30$ its not garbage. people put way too much hype into it. If the battlefront name was removed, there would be a world less flak. I knew from the get go that it wouldn't be battlefront, so i treated it like 1943 since i just payed 30$ instead of being a moron and paying $60+. if the maps are great, then ill get the season pass when it eventually goes to 10-20$ just like i did with BF3/4.

I honestly wouldn't pay 30$ for that. I don't want to support it. I don't want to play it. It was fun, but I really don't need to spend money on it. It's a very boring game mechanically, yes it's a spectacle to behold and that's awesome, but I only have 15 hours of spectacle in me when I'm regularly, and routinely dying to some of the worst spawns I've ever seen in gaming period.

I never ever said someone else can't be having fun Way to take this way too personal
And that's great, don't buy it. but for fuck sake, if people are having fun and are saying they are having fun, don't go on a massive shitspree saying how bad it is and how you cant be having fun.
Because if companies decide they can make every game have $15 worth of content and charge $110 for it that's bad for all of us.
I've imagined it as a $20 game with $40 graphics.
I've imagined it as a $20 game with $40 graphics.
graphics shouldn't have that big of a price tag
call it star wars battlefield, I know what to expect. Call it star wars battlefront I would expect something better than a battlefield mod.
Sadly it's not even up to par with Battlefield quality.
As someone who doesn't care about Star Wars in the slightest, this game looks really bad. I can only assume this game is riding on nothing but people's nostalgia because if there was no Stars Wars here, I really don't think anyone would care about it.
Well of course, that's the whole point of the game.
Because if companies decide they can make every game have $15 worth of content and charge $110 for it that's bad for all of us.
good thing i didnt pay $110
good thing i didnt pay $110
This isn't about you lol Do you know how many people did? Enough to send the message they can do this again.
