• Accutane - Cures acne, can cause horrible death. Worth it?

Apparently (probably an old wives tale but w/e) Sleeping with a large amount of moisture on your face (eg a wet towel) for a few nights can significantly reduce the acne. Might be worth a shot, you know, before risking your life :v:
I use Clean and Clear. Works like an Absolute charm for me.
I've taken generic acutane before and I'm actually on my second course of it. It works great and the only thing that has affected me is dry lips/skin. I've talked extensively with my doctor about it and there really isn't that big of a risk in taking it. Your title is extremely misleading.
Holy fuck, this is probably the worst thing since Effexor.
OP should try sleeping with a clean towel on his pillow every night. ...on that note, can any one confirm that works?

I took 3 pills of accutane every day for a few months and the only side effects I experienced were dry lips and some occasional dry skin around my nose. My acne was completely cured. I would definitely recommend it!
Took accutane and it really, really cleaned up my acne, it is an amazing drug at that purpose. But, it gave me major back pain (bent over a sink to wash my face, couldn't straighten up for a minute afterward), dry skin, very very dry lips (a year later starting to wean myself off chapstick), and I'm starting to think it started some sot of depression that is still strongly bothering me. But it did clear up acne and has kept that away.
I don't know, those side effects look really bad, I guess only take it if your acne is really bad(face literally completely covered in zits) and nothing else works, I've seen people like that at school and it isn't a pretty sight, I don't really care about my own look but even I would do something if I had really bad acne like that, it's just something that goes beyond "I don't give a shit what others think". Then again you should probably talk to a doctor and not search the Internet for possible side effect, chances are they are exaggerated.
I've heard the side affects you can get can affect you for years and years and that accutane stays in you for a very very long time so shit can pop up down the road. I'm not saying that people should avoid a lot of medications but accutane seems more pronounced in the fuck you up area.
I'm taking a tablet called Oxytetracyline. This, as well as a Freederm facial scrub and plenty of water has cut down my acne greatly.
Acutane leaves your system in 48 hours
I was watching a video about acne meds and a guy said something along the lines of them finding traces of accutane still in his mothers system when she got cancer or died from it. It's true though that most people won't get really fucked up from accutane but as of right now I'm personally afraid of it and since at the moment these antibiotic are stopping most new stuff if not all from popping up hopefully I won't be moved up to it. :V
Sounds fucked up.
Dan can be a facepunch test subject. We shall all sit back with lab coats and goggles and watch what happens to him. Next thing we know, Dan was Boobies and we all got excited.
It really depends how severe your acne is. If you work your whole life around it, you can clear up your acne using other methods in just a few months. You should still get creams (Benzoyl Peroxide works like a charm), and on top of that: - Get a dermatologist recommended cleanser, use it two or three times a day - Exfoliate your face every two or three nights - Don't go to bed with a bare face, always sleep with an acne fighting cream on it! It'll go away faster and discourage breakouts And this one's fucking important: Don't do anything that fucks with your hormones! This means preferably abstaining from masturbation, and avoid anything else that can result is a breakout reaction, such as alcohol or even soda (this obviously doesn't apply to everybody). If you follow these steps and don't fuck up your acne will be gone in just a couple of months, and that's if it's quite bad.

Just going off of what my dermatologist has said, figured he was a pretty reliable source cus he's been prescribing it since it came out in the 80s.
Is it true that being in the sun while on this is bad?
I took it for a bit, had pretty bad acne before. After I was done with it, I had a perfectly clear face. I'm pretty prone to nosebleeds so those increased in frequency a bit, and I had to pretty much carry strong moisturizer (Aquaphor) all over and put it on my lips to prevent them from drying up into a husk. I could have acquired some of the side effects and not really noticed it :v:
You definitely don't want erectile dysfunction. I've seen a video on YouTube of the surgery and it's not pretty at all.
All you did was look it up online? Fuck the internet ask a doctor.
Dude, these risks are in pretty much every drug out there. They may not be as severe and numerous but look up any perscription drug and you'll find a lot of side effects that "have" happened. There's no guarantee that any of that will happen, but if it happens to someone while on the drug they're required to warn you that it's possible. Any drug is dangerous but it's all about what risks you're willing to take. There's a pretty low chance any of that would happen anyway. I'd say do it.

But if you just have bad zits that aren't causing any other issues it really isn't worth it.
Those are fucking ridiculous side effects, why would they even sell this shit?
All medicines are like this, they have to make it sound like this because one soccer mom sued cause she fell off her scooter into a ditch while on it.
I think you'll be hard pressed to find a reputable source that states masturbation leads to acne
I have found sites in the past that support this theory, but honestly there's no more reputable source than my own experience. I went through it for a year, using lots of treatments but I couldn't stop masturbating and the acne persisted endlessly. For me, abstaining was 100% necessary to clear my face. Of course, like I said, this probably doesn't hold true for many people. But if you're wondering why your acne won't go away, it's a legitimate possibility.
Don't take it. I had bad acne when I was 16ish. I was put on strong antibiotics which didn't even solve the problem for me and actually caused me to have stomach pains for almost 2 years before it went away. The next step they wanted to take was accutane and when I heard of the side affects I instantly thought "fuck that". A lot of dermatologists are idiots who don't know how to do their jobs. They prescribe out accutane like its candy. Do not fuck with this drug, this is a terrible "medication" and I don't know why it hasn't been completely banned from the market yet. Go with natural treatments for your skin instead. I found much more helpful information about my skin online from sites about natural skin treatments, or at least anything that isn't accutane or antibiotics. I will never take prescription medicine for my skin ever again (though I'm 21 now and most of it has cleared up on its own and I'm still using some stuff for my acne scars)

I'm on Oxytetracycline atm for the crazy spots on my shoulders, which are improving gradually. Doesn't seem anywhere near as intense as this accutane stuff, the only thing is that I have to be careful about is not eating food or drinking milk 1-2 hours before taking it. But yeah, I'd say give it a shot once, then decide whether or not to keep going.
Toothpaste actually works pretty well if it's not really severe, something to do with baking soda I believe.
